michelleo,
I'm very sorry about what happened to you. It shouldn't have been. I hope you have been to counseling, or will be very soon. It doesn't sound as though you bottle this up within yourself, but sometimes we need to get it out to resolve it, and we need someone to talk to to do that.
About GBS, it is not at all likely that it has any connection to your abuse. We really don't know what causes GBS. We know it has started after a viral infection like the flu, or soemtimes after certain vaccinations, but we're not sure. Therefore we don'tknow how to prevent it. It does not seem to be caused by trauma.
Why the immune system should attack the nerves (which is what GBS does and is) is still a mystery to us, and so we don't know what might cure it. If it helps to know, in the great majority of cases treatment helps the signs and symptoms of it, especially if treatment is begun soon after they appear.
You have been to the doctor, since you know it is GBS, right?
Your treatment was either an immunoglobulin IV or, depending on its severity, plasmapharesis (each works, more or less, and both together don't work any better than either alone), and so you have had all that we know to do.
It will fade and you will recover. I hope you can be as you were before, but that doesn't always happen. You may have to figure out methods of intercourse that are not painful while you recover. People usually do in cases of GBS. Just be patient.
With treament and counseling, you will be OK. I hope you can get back to normal soon.
Good luck.

Hi,
The best thing to do is ask for counselling therapy. To talk to someone may ease the 'mental stress' of your past. Also ask your doctor and click on the link which explains more about gbs. Good luck hun, take care!! x
