Well, I got this crazy notion into my brain to try out for JV softball at my school even thought my past experience is pretty limited. I'm not softball stupid, I know the rules of the game and the fundamentals, not to say I have either of these mastered though. I'm just asking for any words of wisdom from veteran softball players or coaches. Anything that you wish you had known when starting off or something that you think every softball-savvy person should know. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for all you advice! FYI, I made the team. The coach said that all my hustle and hard work really paid off and that she sees potential in me if I keep up the positive attitude.

just be confident. not cocky, just don't hold back or be afraid to do anything. even if you are just try not to show it. coaches love confidence. and hustle. work yer @$$ off so they know you're gonna be didicated and that you have a ood work ethic. and most importantly, if you make a mistake, shake it off, don't let it get to you. get up and try it again. ever heard that thing, failure's not falling down, it's staying down? that pretty much sums it up. good luck :)

For Pitcher: Pitch for comfort, not words.

Meaning: Pitch how you feel comfortable and not how people tell you. Trying to pitch how people tell you will just mess your mind, but pitching to how you feel best at will prove your best.

For Defense: Use your arms to run, and legs to catch.

Meaning: Your arms are the reason why your fast, and your legs are the reason why you get to the position under the ball

For Batting: Eye on the ball

Meaning: Pretty simple

For Teammate: When you think your in hell... GOOD!

Meaning: Pretty simple

Practice.... practice with someone who is good or at least has a lot of confidence in themselves.
If possible videotape yourself while throwing, running, hitting, and feilding..... when you can watch yourself perform you can see things much easier and make adjustments.
