Nope, Montoya was given the race, They outright said it several times that the other drivers were moving over for him, they showed his crew making deals with other crews, and Boris's crew chief told him to watch out because he knew Montoya wasn't against wrecking his own team mate.

One main thing about road races, is that it's always hard to pass, but not true if the other drivers are moving for you, I am a huge NASCAR fan but that race just plain sucked.

They wanted that Columbian to win in Mexico no matter what it took!

I felt Pruett and Montoya were both at fault for the wreck. Pruett should have anticipated Montoya passing on that corner knowing Montoya had a better car. Pruett's spotter should have seen it coming as well. Pruett clearly came down on Montoya's car.

Montoya had the position, but he could have avoided it by relaxing and slowing down a tick going into the corner. At 180 MPH, I'm not sure if he could have avoided Pruett once he was into the corner, but Montoya should have realized that he didn't have the run on Pruett like he did on lap 3.

So did Montoya steal the win? No. As I've heard NASCAR fans say over and over again, "rubbin's racin'". It just seems that if it is a popular driver, it would have been "rubbin". When it is an unpopular driver (like Montoya), he wrecked the other car.

Kudo's to Montoya for the win. I was cheering for him personally.

Also, having met him on several occasions when he was in CART, people are right when they say he is cocky. I thought he was an outright d*ck!.

His former teammeate Jimmy Vasser...now there is a class act. If there is one race car driver I ever wished was successful beyond their dreams, it would be him. Very polite and a gentleman. (probably the second nicest was Robby Gorden followed by Kyle Petty)

No, Montoya was definetly faster, but he had 7 more laps or whatever, he would've passed him anyway, and I don't think Montoya was fully responsible, yes he was too agressive, but Montoya is a great driver and if he didn't see something, he would've gone for the pass. Pruett went into the turn high from what it looked like, and Montoya went to pass, and Pruett came low, I don't think he was going for the block, I just think he didn't see Montoya there or he went into the turn high and went to go back to the bottom of the turn.

To the first reponse: They have the same amount of road racing experience, Montoya ran Cart and F1, Pruett races in the Rolex series, hes a sports car racer, they really have the same experience.

No it would have happened either way, if he had not spun him then he would have passed him. He had the fresher tires, and more experience racing road courses. Montoya will likely win one of the Cup road races as well.

Edit- Pruett having more experience on road courses with actual competition has yet to be seen. He ran some in CART, but before that he was not in a series that would be considered world class for road racing. However for the last 15 years Motoya has raced in series dominated by road courses, on an international scale. Pruett has run what some CART races on road courses. Motoya has the most experience on the Nascar level with road racing except for Said. You guys may want to check your facts, Pruett has raced around what 200 road courses in his carrer compared to Montoya racing in around 350. Experience goes to Montoya on road courses.

No Montoya had the better car and had the fresher tires. But I do not think that Montoya should have tested the issue at that point.

But, do not worry, both guys will go to sleep tonight and they will wake up in the morning and cooler heads will prevail!

Montoya had plenty of laps to pass Pruett with his faster car with fresher tires.
Montoya seemed to get a bit anxious, and I wouldn't blame him, this was his first win in NASCAR. He couldn't slow down fast enough and Pruett kind of went down into him.
Sure I feel kind of sorry for Pruett, but what he said in the post-race interview, that I cannot agree with.
But by tomorrow their heads will cool off.

"(Montoya) had the fresher tires, and more experience racing road courses."

Huh? Do you know anything at all about Scott Pruett?

Montoya's a great driver, but he's got nothing on Pruett in terms of experience. Scott's been around a *lot* longer and has had plenty of success on road courses in many different series.

Back to the original question ... no, and that's a stupid question. In case you forgot, you were watching a NASCAR race. This isn't the sort of racing where sportsmanship plays any role; this is mug-the-guy-in-front-of-you hillbilly opera, and is exactly the sort of thing NASCAR encourages. It's not stealing if the sanctioning body lets people get away with it 30 times a year.

No I think Montoya was going to win but he did not have to wreck his teammate to win he could have just passed him clean!

I seemed to me that Pruett came down and tried to cut off JPM, so Pruett was to blame for his misfortunes.

If he would have let JPM pass him, then he probably would have come in 2nd.

I thought it was childish when Pruett was being interviewed and said it was JPM's fault.

Bottom line is JPM won and Pruett lost. End of story.

No...it's not like he "purposely" wrecked his teammate. And I know Pruett was frustrated at the end of the race but you don't attack you teammate the way he did.
