I will be buying a tattoo machine soon, and my best friend sai she wants a tattoo from me (we are 16), since I have drawn pictures on her before and she liked them. So I want to know where do I get the transfer paper? How does it work? When drawing the picture (she wants a fairy with colour) is it just lik regular drawing, or is there anything specifically different? Any general tips?

ok, this is what you do. take your friend to a PROFESSIONAL! just becasue you can draw, doesnt mean you can tattoo.... idiot.

There's a huge difference, it's permanint, you're using a needle and you could kill your friend if you dont have properly cleaned tools.

OK You should not tattoo anyone without a license. If you don't know how it works and everything that comes with it your friend needs to wait until she's 18 to get one from a professional. what you can do is draw it for her on paper and take her to a tattoo shop. so she or you won't be exposed to any type of infection or disease. Don't fool yourself by thinking a pen is the same as a Tattoo gun. 2 totally different things and if you mess up on her she has to live with that on her! if you go too deep into her skin she'll have a raised tattoo that has a bad scar under it! That would make the tattoo look bad after it heals, she's not gonna like that at all! She could have an infection by having someone do a tattoo that doesn't know the proper cleaning techniques. Just wait until your 18. I waited until i was 20 to get my first tattoo! I love it. It was done by a professional and the good ones will have an autoclave machine to sterilize all the instruments! If you don't have one and don't know how to use it, Don't think about tattooing anyone! sorry hun but you should wait!

Practice On An Orange..Then You Can Give Her 1 In A Few Yrs.
I Agree With Going To A Professional.I Let A Friend Do One On Me,His 1st One And It Got Infected And Lost All The Ink.Now I Have Scar Tissue There And It Will Be Hard To Cover Up Or Fix.He Had All The Professional Stuff,Just Didnt Know How Deep And How Much To Go Over It.

I think you are crazy and she would be even more crazy for letting you. I had one homemade tat done but it was small and the guy used just a needle no tat gun, but i have friends who have got homemade ones done with a gun and they look bad!!! You do not know what you are doing. If you are a good artist draw her a pic and let her take it to a professional to tattoo on her, go with her and tell them you are interested in becoming a tattoo artist and maybe they will be able to let you sit in a watch and give you some pointers. Then you can learn and maybe in a year or two you would actually get to tattoo someone. Tattoo's are there for life and you don't want to do a really bad job on your friend, it could ruin your friendship!! Think, Think, Think!!! Please.

how the hell is a 16 year old getting a tattoo machine! if you have a place where you are buying it from, and they don't check papers and IDs, i suggest you find somewhere else.
#1- if you have never apprenticed for a tattoo artist (sounds like you NEVER learned anything), then i wouldn't let you 100 feet from my skin with a needle! your friend is an idiot for thinking she won't get an infection.

my general tip is to apprentice with a LICENSED tattooist, and learn from them. otherwise, you'll have a bunch of childlike drawings on a bunch of people who used to be your friends. if you are a good artist, then take it from there, and learn. apprentices spend YEARS drawing and tracing and tattooing on hams before they are even allowed NEAR a human.

Obviously, if tattooing somebody and doing a good job was easy, than everybody would be doing it. I know people who have been tattooing in a professional shop for 10 to 15 years and they still don't do a great job. If doing a bad tattoo wasn't bad enough it's the least of your problems of things that could go wrong. You could permanently scar them to where it couldn't be removed or fixed, you could get a blood born infection like hepatitis, you could seriously infect your friend to where they need to have their hand/foot/arm etc amputated, there could be an infection from the inks you use and the lack of sanitation and sterilized equipment. My husband has been tattooing professionally for 5 years and he still gets cutomers who come in from time to time from an infection from the ink. If you want to be incredibly stupid and tattoo your friend with lack of experiance *That you have to ask total strangers online how to do it* and they "or you" end up permantly scarred, disfigured or worse DIE than go ahead, but don't say you haven't been warned.

No at home tattoos! Go to a professional! Last night I went to the parlor and got my first tattoo, and some kid came in for a cover up, it was a home made on, his friend knew how to draw and they decided to do one on his back, yeah, that was a mistake. You don't have the training, or the knowledge, so don't do it!

you are seriously going to screw up your friends skin! NO tattooing is not the same thing as drawing! if it were don't you think that ALL artists would be able to tattoo? i would suggest not doing it at all. i have no general tips for you other than that you need to finish school and if you are still interested in tattooing try to get an apprenticeship at a good tattoo shop. it won't be fun and it definitely won't be easy but atleast you'll come out of it with a knowledge of how to tattoo and NOT screw up people's bodies.

Best idea ... DON'T! You aren't trained to tattoo, you could severely screw up and that leaves you 100% legally responsible for what happens to your friend. Plus it is illegal to tattoo without a license. Breaking multiple laws just for a tattoo ... wait until you can get it legally and don't buy a tattoo gun, you'll be tempted and do something really stupid. Leave it up to the pros to give tattoos.

I would suggest that before you start any backyard tattooing that you check with your state health board for regulations. I would think you should also apprentice with an established artist. I suspect it is illegal for you to be a tattoo artist as a minor. It is certainly illegal to put a tattoo on a minor without parental consent. This is a dangerous path you two kids are heading down. You need to learn more about tattooing before you begin sticking needles in anyone.

I dont think that its the best idea to give her a tattoo till you have practiced but I know that my tattoo guy told me that they make the new artists practice on grapefruits. I saw someone say paper and that wont work you will end up tattooing the table or whatever the paper is on. I think that you should practice on some grapefruits and then try a small one somewhere where if it goes bad she wont mind as much. I think you are goingt o find that the gun is a lot different to draw on someone with than a pen/ marker, so just make sure you practice lots first! Good luck with your tattooing!
