My father in law is a hypocritical, biggoted, racist, control-freak that just refuses to but out of mine and my husbands lives. How do i get him to but out without there being bad blood for the rest of our lives?

You cant change other people. So your best bet is to either tell him to butt out or to move far enough away that he wont be able to bother you.

If your father-in-law is a baaaaad jerk, there's probably no avoiding the bad blood. Just remember that you married him, not his family. If at all possible, try to get your husband to intervene because, after all, that is still his family. I don't know exactly what the problem is but, something has to give before there are unforgivable things said and/or done. Good luck!

Sounds like my grandma. She like my dad for no reason what so ever. He just tries to avoid being around her. Funney story, her husband, my grandfather, was in the Navy and she was very happey to hear that I was joining the Navy untill she learned I was originally going to join the Army untill my dad talked me out of it.

gee are we related? lol.. sounds like my father in law. actually i calmed mine down by being just like him to him.. he now leaves us alone.. sorry you have to go through this, but i do understand where u r coming from.
