Girlfriend might be pregnant, which is not what we want. Her last cycle was 22 January, but due to being on/off the pill (which is why we're scared) she had three cycles in January. If she conceived, it happened on the 6th of Feb. She missed her last cycle two weeks ago. Now, none of the home pregnancy tests taken (EPT and Home Response Early Result) have come back positive, but she says from an earlier pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage she didn't show then until late. I've asked her to get a blood test, but she doesn't want to (works at the hospital and doesn't want to "start rumors") From reading up on the tests, especially the Home Response, it seems like in most people that should have shown a positive result if she was pregnant. Testing indicates that test can detect hCG as early as 1 day before a missed cycle and now it's two weeks after a missed cycle. Also, would it be correct to say the three rapid cycles in January would disrupt/delay the next cycle? Please help!

Unfortunately we live in a pretty small "middle of nowhere" town where there's really only one local option for a blood test. I checked with the local PP-type clinic but they only offer urine testing, which I don't imagine is any more accurate than the home tests. I'm of the opinion that if the worst thing she/we has to worry about are rumors at work, then we got off lucky, but she's pretty steadfast that she isn't going to get the bloodwork done there.

For the people who didn't show until the 6+ week timeframe, are you talking about since last cycle, missed cycle, or conception?

Thank you to everybody who took the time to respond. It turns out she's definitely NOT pregnant. Last week she phoned her physician who told her that with the number of home tests she's taken it was all but certain that she wasn't pregnant and that the being on/off the pill was the cause of this. Then on Friday she had her cycle, much to both of our relief. But to everybody to took the time to reply, thank you very much.

My pregnancy test didn't show positive until 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. So it could happen.

Why is she so afraid of rumors? Who the heck cares? And she doesn't have to have it done there. Go somewhere else!! But a blood test is about the only way to know for sure at this early in the game. Try to be supportive but urge her to get it done and then you both will know and then you can make decisions that have to be made. ie, marriage, which is no reason, but you might want to think about it, are both of you in good jobs, if not, better get into one now., those type of decisions. Good luck to both of you and I hope everything works out for the best.

i think that if she has taken a accurate pregnancy test that has come back with a positive result then theirs a very good chance that's she's pregnant and those EPT are meant to be as accurate as a blood test they have always work for me and my girlfriend and the doctors have told us that they are more accurate than theirs and all the the other signs are showing shes pregnant to so i think that she is 100% she pregnant the only question u have to ask yourself now is what are u going to do about it do u want the baby and try and figure out what your next step in life is

It sounds like she hasn't had a normal cycle in at least on month. Therefor the missed period can not be a set sign of pregnancy. If the test are saying she not then they are probably right.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good grasp on all the issues. If she did get a blood test, everything is confidential, but I understand workplace stuff. Is there another clinic or lab that she could go to where she wouldn't be recognized?

You can go to another town and get the blood test done and no one else has to know.
It is possible that the on/off cycle with the pill messed up her cylcle.

very simple, if the home pregnancy tests came negative than your girlfriend is 100 percent NOT pregnant. You see, if the home pregnancy test comes positive, there is always a possibility that its giving the wrong information but if it turns out NEGATIVE than you're definitely not pregnant.
No worries

It doesn't really sound like she's pregnant, but she needs to see a doctor b/c of the irregularity in her cycles and just to make sure. She doesn't have to go to THAT hospital.

there might be a possibilty that she is. if she has been feeling real sick or nasueas lately then that cn be a problem. if the slightest smell of found or bad odors makes her real naseaus then u might have a real problem there. go to the nearest clinic and get her tested, it's better to be safe then sorry.
