How do i get the microphone on my web cam to record voice clips?

tried going into control panel sound/audio settings & upping the volume, putting it on to laptop mono speakers ... even did the hardware test & it worked ok - but still cant send sound via yahoo messenger - i can receive sound ok & can send video/image ok. Please help ASAP - Many Thanks!

did you try using yahoo messengers setup option??

the audio testing thing??
