Bad Hair Day Becomes A Pay Day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most of us have suffered through a bad hair day at one time or another. You know what I'm talking about here, don't you? It's one of those days when your 'do - doesn't.

Now it looks like a St. Louis area woman has turned a bad hair day into a pay day. A jury awarded Geremie Hoff, 56, of suburban Creve Coeur, $6,000 to Ms. Hoff, who sued the Elizabeth Arden Salon for emotional distress, depression, counseling and lost income. Ms. Hoff claimed that a bad hair treatment applied by the salon left her depressed and led her to seek early retirement.

According to testimony, Hoff went to the salon Aug. 9, 2001, seeking to have her curly hair straightened.

Stylist Reye Hudson, who is still with the salon but was not named in the suit, applied a hair relaxer, then washed and styled Hoff's hair.

Hoff testified that clumps of her hair came loose that night, and her resulting bald spots and brittle hair made her depressed and reclusive. Hoff's attorney said she was so distressed she retired early from teaching and stopped working as a tour guide for trips to Italy.

The defense attorney said Hudson didn't test Hoff's hair before applying the product, but that the stylist could judge who needed one based on her 30 years of experience.

Jurors found the stylist negligent. They did not describe how they arrived at the $6,000 figure.

I've heard of one where a woman purchased a motor home. She started going down the highway, put the motor home on cruise control and then went back to the galley to make supper. The motor home crashed (surprise, surprise). She sued the motor home manufacturer because the owners manual did not specify that you needed to stay behind the wheel and steer when it was on cruise control. I've heard this one is true.

The child stroller I bought had a small basket on the bottom to hold stuff. There was a clear warning sticker on it that said not to put infants in there. That probably means that someone tried, and won some money in a lawsuite.

That would have to be when a person breaking into someones home gets shot and crippled, they sue the homeowner because they can't live life like before they were shot. And the courts award them millions, and the home owner loses everything. Or, the North Hollywood shootout about 10 years ago when the 2 bank robbers were shooting anything and everything in sight, with no regard to human life. When the one was shot and killed, it took awhile for him to die. The guys mom tried to sue the LAPD for not trying to save his life. There is also the case of when an attorney hurt his shoulder while removing his golf clubs from his car, he sued and received close to $100,000.00

That old lady that sued McDonald's because she spilled coffee in her lap comes to mind. They were found liable because they didn't give her sufficient warning that the coffee was hot.

Actually, if you pick up any product and there is some kind of warning label on it, there is probably a lawsuit behind it. Warning labels on many products seem to be there to protect stupid people from themselves.

just had to say about the lady that spilled the coffee on her self in MacDonald's..........this lady's burns where so bad that she actually had to have some surgery to put things right and back together down there................plus when the coffee was tested from that store it was found to be over the bubbling boiling point and that was how they was serving it.................basically it was like pouring a boiling kettle into your lap and wondering why it burned............so truly do NOT think the lady was wrong in suing period..................i think most people got the burn from coffee part and left the REAL findings alone even more so when the real facts came out also certain facts where not able to be made public due to McD's not wanting to look bad.

Google the Stella awards. They are named after the lady who sued McDonald's for hot coffee that she spilled on herself. It's a site that lists retards who have filed retarded lawsuits. Or if you want an even bigger laugh, Google the Darwin awards. They are awarded to people who have killed themselves in the most ridiculous ways you can imagine.

In today's newspaper! A girl's parents are suing the school because the school put a note in their kids file for a comment she made, "that's so gay." The school said they have zero tolerence for what can be construed as a homophobic slur and the parents sued because they think the school violated the kid's right to free speech. whaaaat?

Don't forget the lady that put a hot coffee in her lap and sued when the coffee spilled on her causing burns....,,,

how about the fat guy that sued McD's because he got fat eating french fries.....no kidding...

I have a ridiculous lawsuit case that happened to me 4 months ago and I think you will get 100% on your project for it as it is a true story.
Here goes.........on Oct 31 I asked my former boyfriend if I could take his 2 year old out to the mall for Halloween. He said I could so I took her in my car and we went trick or treating and I put her on the meery-go round and then I decided( without his permission) to take his daughter in the hairdressing place to give her a cute pixkie haircut and then I gave her some juice and cookies which I brought along for her and then I drove her home.

When her father picked her up , he was telling me.........."OH, no you cut my daughter's hair . You are not suppose to do that . For religious purposes we are keeping her hair messy. ( They are Hindu/Sikh) . 2 days later he came to tell me that he was going to take out a lawsuit against me for not asking his permission to cut the hair and also for a trip to India for obtaining religious prayers and special oils to remove the "jinx ' I put on his daughter. A total of $18,000 for the trip . I told him he could take me to court but that I would counter sue him . He told me he had started the legal proceedings and that was that.
I have not received any papers as of yet and it is 4 months now.
I cannot see his daughter anymore .nor does he come to my home ...but we talk on the phone andin person as we live in the same building. In time he will look silly with his so called "lawsuit" for anything he can think of to get back at me. He likes to intimidate people and muscle them into feeling "bad" and giving him money to ask for his forgiveness. He NEVER DOES IT HIMSELF IN ANY SITUATION...HE THINKS HEIS RIGHT ALWAYS.

I think the McDonald's coffee lawsuit was pretty ridiculous.

Coffee is hot, large wording on the cup shouldn't have to tell you that.

How about the lady who sued McDonalds when she spilled a cup of their coffee on herself.

She won!

Do a google search on "McDonalds hot coffee suit"
