All babies have dandruff at some level, but this sounds like cradle cap. Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3 parts warm water. Massage into scalp. Let sit for about 10 minutes, then shampoo with a gentle product. A total of 4 to 5 applications over the course of about a week should cure it!

This is completely normal and don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. It is probably just cradle cap. Use a baby shampoo a regularly as you can and massage it through. It won't disappear but it will keep it at a steady level.
Cradle cap is a result of all the hours a baby spends in bed. They soon grow out of it. WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T COMB IT OUT. IT HURTS AND YOU ARE DAMAGING THE SKIN WHICH WILL ENCOURAGE BACTERIA TO GROW UNDER IT CAUSING GREATER PROBLEMS. Do keep massaging (not rub) the scalp at bathtimes with a baby shampoo (thats what they are for).

raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, cost $5 a bottle
Hair & Scalp- Seborrheic Dermatitis (Severe Dandruff)
Brijette of Bettendorf, Iowa writes us, "My Chiropractor told me to use vinegar on my baby girl's cradle cap. I applied it straight and let it sit for 10 minutes before her bath. I've done this only four times now and her cradle cap is almost gone already!!! Maybe this straight vinegar treatment could work for other scalp problems as well."
Anne writes, " I have dark hair which is very oily. I use apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse, it helps to dissolve buildup, which results in much shinier hair. It has also been very beneficial for my dandruff."
A reader from Boston, MA writes, "I'm so happy that I found this site. I have applied straight apple cider vinegar 30 min before washing my hair and the flaking is almost gone. It has taken five treatments and WOW what a difference. It make my hair shiny too (extra bonus)."
Now science tells us that it promotes blood circulation in the small blood capillaries that irrigate the skin. It is also antiseptic, combating yeasts, viruses, and bacteria that can cause infection.
Apple cider vinegar is rich in alpha-hydroxy acids, helping to dissolve fatty deposits on the skin’s surface and reducing scaly conditions, promoting a softer, smoother appearance. This miracle fluid also regulates the pH of the skin.
You won’t believe how many ways apple cider vinegar can be used to promote healthier skin and hair! Find out some of the couldn’t-be-simpler ways to put it to work for you, below:
Dandruff fighter: Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar to 3 parts warm water to balance scalp pH and control dandruff. You can also apply undiluted vinegar to the scalp. Allow it to penetrate, then shampoo with a mild shampoo.

I have a 3yr old, don't scratch her scalp cause it's not save, u could damage her scalp, some baby's have that and it's normal that's there skin changing, and some times that needs some moisture so it falls off, use the Violet bed time Johnson & Jonhson's shampoo. and with a soft brisell brush massage her scalp then just rinse.

Are you absolutly sure it's dandruff? My niece (who at the time was 7 months old) had a similar problem, went to the doc, found out she was having a allergic reaction to a laundry detergent. Her head was red in spots, but we thought it was from itching.

when your dandruff is out of control you really should do more than just comb it out. because dandruff is a sign of dry irritable scalp. and if the scalp isnt treated they will keep reapearing. there are shampoos that treat it. so its not a lost cause.

I would make an appointment with the family doctor. It could be an allergy to certain detergents, fabrics, etc. Perhaps its only dry skin. Regardless, the doctor will know best how to help you and the baby.
