It is very likely that your lip will swell when pierced. Its a common body reaction and usually only lasts 3-14 days.

As far as what side the piercing goes on, that's entirely your choice. The only objection a piercer would ever have to the placement you choose is if its going to cause healing problems or if its too close to a vein. How far down, again, is your choice, but you can always have the piercer suggest what would be best. There is a reason they are professional piercers.

Whatever you choose to do, go to a reputable piercer and take care of your piercing. Good luck.

It gets swollen about 2 days after the piercing, but it only lasts a day or two. Ice and Advil saved mine from getting "fat".
Mine's on my right side. But the sides don't have a meaning. You can get it on either side that you want, in the middle even.
It depends on what you and your piercer agree for placement. You can have it go through your lip if you want. But that's not a regular lip piercing, it's called a "Verticle Labret". It's a little more painful, but it still looks pretty good.

Don't self pierce, go to a professional. Especially since you don't know very much about this piercing. Badbadbad.

you, need to do some reasearch. it does go through your lip, unless you're talking about a verticle labret, which is a whole other thing from a labret. and it doenst matter what side you get it on. I have my labret in the middle.

It does matter how low or high up it is. If you get it pieced too low it will rub against your gums and damage them. so i would suggest to get it higher up, that's what i did. Its really cute and i love it.

mine didnt swell at all, but it was hard to eat because i got it caught on my teeth a few times, but that's just becuase the post was too long.

you need to go ask a piercer the questions you have. not poeple on yahoo XD

Yes, it will swell a little.
It doesn't matter which side really, but I generally suggest the right side.
I'm pretty sure there is no really meaning behind them.
It goes just below your lip.

PS: go to any place that does piercings and ask your questions there. They will have more and better answers.

Ok... it's piercing and it goes on whatever side you want it to go on. It can even go in the middle. You can't pierce it yourself, that'd be stupid. You'd most likely mess it up. I'm guessing by your questions that you know absolutely nothing about it so I would recommend going to a piercer. It does get a little fat, but it goes down. It doesn't stay fat your entire life. I can't really say how far down from your nose it goes... It goes on your bottom lip.

Unless you're getting one of those stupid piercings that people have that are supposed to be like a dimple. I don't know anything about those.

Yes, they get swollen for about two days but not too swollen unless the piercer did a bad job.
Your piercing can go on either side, whichever your prefer.
And the position is also your choice, it definitely shouldn't go ON your lip.
Hope that helps :)
