My ex girlfriend broke up with me about a month ago. We decided to stay friends. She went to her best friends wedding yesterday without a date (However I was supposed go with her, before we broke up.) Today on the phone she said that it was "depressing seeing her friend get married, because she realized that she is alone and doesn't have anyone." She broke up with me due to "not having a spark." I respected her decision and moved on. My question is this: Why would she tell me that she was depressed because she is lonely? What did she except me to say? Was she just making conversation or was she trying to hint at something else? Am i reading too far into what she said? thanks

we were friends first.. so these comments about a friends zone doesnt apply. she would normally never tell me that.

Yes, you're reading too much into it. Get ready for her to say all kinds of stuff like that because now you're in the "friend" zone.

She told you because you are friends and it is how she felt. She already ackowledged that she is not interested in you as a boyfriend, although she may still feel lonely. Keep her as a friend and be there for her if you like but don't hang on thinking she will eventually come to her senses and want to date you again. There is a possibility that she might to overcome her loneliness but it will not last if she does. Make and effort to date others. You will find the right one.

It is kind of strange that she would say this to you. Do you think she would feel differently if she would of had a date. Perhaps she feels lonely and has moved on as well and was just venting her frustration to you in hopes of pity and some advice.

Since you are now friends, she seems to be confiding her girlfriend type feelings to her. I think there's only a small chance that she's hinting that you should get back together

It sounds like you are reading too much into it. Girls get "lonely" when they see their friends getting married. She just needs to talk.

sounds to me that she might be having second thoughts about breaking up with you. but don't give in unless you really like her. don't give her a pity date.

"We decided to stay friends" Because you decided to stay FRIENDS. FRIENDS tell FRIENDS when they are feeling depressed. Get over yourself.

to me, there is no "friend" zone, do what you think is right, follow your heart.
