Well here is what I like to do and think is the best way to get good flavor. Either make your own meatballs and put them into the sauce. I prefer Ragu for a quick fix sauce. Or/and fry up some hot Italian sausage and cook it in the sauce. It will taste like it is homemade just by the flavor the meat gives it. If you really don't want to put any effort into it. Just buy some frozen meatballs and put them into the sauce. I still recommend frying them up a little bit to get some brown color to them.

I never use jar or can spaghetti sauce, I always make mine from scratch so I have more control over the sodium content; my hubby is on a low-sodium diet. But if you want to use jar stuff and add your own extras, I recommend sauteing onions, garlic and bell peppers (green or red or both), zucchini and mushrooms if you like them. I also find the jar stuff isn't spiced enough so you may want to add extra Italian spices. Good eating!

i use prego with mushrooms. add a smaller can of mushrooms as well. when cooking the ground beef, add garlic salt, garlic powder and onion salt. in the sauce you can put oregano, parsley, basil, and more garlic if you like.

If you want to add to premade sauce, you can add mushrooms, onions, garlic, bell peppers, black olives, tomatoes, meatballs, red wine, and top the spaghetti and sauce with grated cheese and more olives and mushrooms.
