I ALWAYS watch Cooking Shows every Saturdays on KLCS Channel 58 and KCET Channel 28. I often hear the Italian Cooks use Radicchio for Salads and other recipes. But it looks like Purple/Red Cabbage to me. What's the difference between Radicchio and Purple/Red Cabbage ? Is it just a fancier name for Purple/Red Cabbage or is Radicchio and Purple/Red Cabbage actually totally different vegetables ?? I'm just bored and curious so I thought I'd ask.

Radicchio is a mildly bitter tasting leafy vegetable. It is actually Italian Chicory.
Red cabbage is just a type of cabbage.
