when i was in elementry school and also middle school i had nice smooth silky hair. i took days in between to wash my hair, i didnt wash them every morning and every night. but when i am in the 12th grade and i realized well...isnt that smooth and shiny. its still smooth but kinda rough, i started washing my hair every morning and every night since the 11th grade. i feel like if i dont wash it for 1 or 2 days my head itchy and the roots get kinda oily and smells kinda stenchy. what happened to my hair?

is it becuase i wash it so often that i have washed away all my natural oils? my mom said it was cuz i wash it too much, but i told her i have too now cuz if i dont it gets itchy and oil builds up it even smells a lil bit. im a male btw

Well, as you get older your body does produce more oil. At night, be sure to brush or comb your hair. That way it distributes the oil at your roots to the ends of your hair. And when you wash it, use a conditioner and rinse with cool water. The cool water seals the hair shaft, leaving your hair looking shinier.

You grew up honey.

I was born completely bald and remained that way until I was two. I then got really thin blond hair. By age 11, my light blond locks got really really thick and turned a dirty blondish color, I now dye it red.

Your hair changes just like your body does as you grow up. Even though you are a boy try using a deep conditioner that doesn't weigh hair down. This will give you back what you want out of your hair. Id suggest "Bone Marrow" you can get it at Sally's beauty store for about 5-7 bucks and it will last you several months. Use it once a week. If you are willing to spend a little more, use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner. It is made just for guys and has an invigorating feel when you use it. its about 5 bucks (for each) and can be purchased at a local hair salon.

yah, you're mum is right, you're washing it too often, and the itchy-ness is probably because you scalp is sooooo dry. or you could have dandrif (sp?) you should buy a shampoo for it, and use conditioner!!! I know so many guys whos hair has amazing potential, but they dont use conditioner. It helps make hair smooth and shiny. and if you use gel, try to use less. Gel can cause you scalp to itch and smell weird.

u wash it to often, you only to wash it once a day or even every other day. because you have been washing so much you have dried it out. i suggest a moisturizing treatment. also deep condition you hair and use a hair serum.
