Are you sure the head is still imbedded? Just the physical act of removing a tick can cause a small lump to raise up from where it was attached even if the head was removed with the body. While the tick is attached it is releasing anti-inflammatories into its host's body so it will be easier for it to go unnoticed. Removing it causes the body's immune system to kick in and that's completely normal. I wouldn't assume the worst.

I would treat the area with some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and keep an eye on it. If it seems to be getting worse or doesn't go away on its own, consult your vet.

holy Toledo, you don't have to put your dog to sleep.for crying out loud , its not like he broke all 4 legs or has terminal cancer or anything like that!!! i've have removed the head by acting as if it was a sliver , but i have a very mellow dog.try some black drawing salve(buy at any rite-aid)really load it on.watch for any sign of infection and call your vet to ask for any other helpful solutions and a price for a visit if needed.

euthanasia? Please don't kill your dog just because you found a tick on him. The bump will eventually go away. Just buy a good flea and tick medication to put on the dog.

I don't think you need all that. I did that once with my dog and it healed up on its own. Dogs are resilient creatures. They're pretty good about snapping back from various ailments.

I wouldn't wait in taking him to the vet. The longer you wait, the more it's going to cost you.
