Same reason you spank your kid and then when he hits the neighbor kid you spank him for it. Don't make a lot of sense to me. Ok, its not the same thing and I am not opposed to spanking a child if it is done properly and is not a beating. I think the death penalty is barbaric, it serves no real purpose that has been proved and to many mistakes are made in the justice system to allow it to go on. It puts us in a class with the communist country's and even Iraq.

Because we think that criminal behavior will be influenced by the thought of the consequences to our actions. Is it working? I doubt it, the prisons seem to be getting fuller and when people kill other people, they're usually seeing "red" and not rationally thinking of the consequences.

We (the military)(I am a veteran) kill people who are
the enemies of our county and defend and protect
citizens including the freedoms of those citizens
(free speech -internet, press, protest). We kill
people who threaten the freedoms we possess
and the stability of the world. We kill people
so we will not be killed, captured or ruled by
non-democratic tyrants - like the late Hussein
or his like. We defend you (and me). I salute

the age old question. Sometimes you need to take a life to save many more. Until we advance as a people and learn to respect others views and not force our views on others through violence (Like the muslim terrorists) there will always be killing. It has been going on long before us and will go on long after we are long gone...

Sometimes it is kill or be killed.
I would rather kill someone than have someone kill my family.
I am not a coward. I would stand up for my family and fight.

I believe in an eye for an eye.
You kill....you die.
You rape....You get raped (in prison by the biggest guy there.)
You molest....castration.
You molest your own child....you die.
Sounds about right to me.

The death penalty was suppose to be a deterrent to crime.
It obviously didn't work.
