I have found the following price for the Nikon D80 Digital Camera: $329.00:

http://www.ccicameracity.com/digital-cameras-nikon-nikon-d80.html

If you go to regular camera stores you will find the price is $999.00. I have found some other prices in internet like $768, but the one in CCI Camera City seems too cheap, even if it is after rebate.

Does anyone have any comments, experience with this web site?. Does anyone know where the trick might be?

Thanks and regards
Bernardo

Here's the deal.

You'll place an order online and you'll get a call.

The guy will try all kinds of tricks to get you to order a different camera than the one they've priced. It will be "made in Malaysia instead of Japan" or it will be "an older batch"...

If you don't fall for this, they will try the "package deal" where they will charge extra for the strap, charger, software, etc...

If you still don't bulge and tell them you want what they advertised they will try to sell you some extras. The extras include batteries, memory card (no brand cheap stuff at a very steep price). Since you're getting the camera you end up saying yes to all the extras. And paying dearly for shipping.

The order ships and when you get the box there's no camera in it. Just some batteries and some cheap memory cards.

You call them and they tell you that they didn't have the camera available, but they sent all the other stuff... But hey, they didn't charge you for the camera, just the other stuff.

In the end you will never get your camera and you will end up having bought some really expensive junk with a huge premium for shipping.

Avoid them like the plague, they are well known scammers.

If somebody has a price more than 5% below B&H then they are a scam for sure.

Hope this helps!

Ignacio

With 100% certainty in the digital camera game-
if a price seems 'too good to be true'- it always is.

There are quite a few excellent and extremely competitive on-line retailers that offer great customer service and the best prices. Places like NewEgg and BHPhotovideo come to mind (although there are others). cci camera city has a rating of 0.31 (on a scale of 0 to 10) at resellerratings.com. (to be clear: 0.31 is below a rating of '1') That essentially means that nobody has ever been happy with their experience with that vendor.

The D80 is certainly a great camera choice. Consider a better place to buy it tho'.

1. There is no current USA rebate on the D80.

2. Please take note of the following:
- nowhere does is say battery included (instead they charge $150 - retail store price $69)
- nowhere does it state charger included (instead they charge $179 - retail store price for generic charger $50)
- nowhere does it state USB/RCA cables, strap, software included (no price listed)
- They want to charge $500 for 5 yr extended warrenty. Hmmmm Homeowners insurance will run you <$50 year for $5,000 worth of camera gear and it's indefinatly renewable.....
- They want to charge $300 for UV, Circular Polarizer, and FLD filter.... Hmmm retail store price for MULTICOTED UV $25, MULTICOATED Circ Pol $50, and FLD is USELESS when it comes to shooting digital (thats what white balance is for)

Its a typical You only get the body and nothing else (no cables, battery, software, strap that should be in the Nikon box) (and we don't have any in stock unless you start to buy accy's then its.... Oh wait! we just had one come available.....!

Also, read the fine print!
as shown on their info page
"Some items carry international warranty, USA warranty may vary in cost. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Some international products may not include English manuals. Pictures are for reference only. Some pictures don’t accurately depict the model."

No USA warrenty? No English Manual? hmmmm..... sounds fishy

Buyer Beware, and be informed!

between the cool helpful factors of the D80 is being waiting to take double exposures (actual 3 photographs on one image report). you have got dissimilar exciting with this option. What do you propose by potential of the term "checklist"?

It is probably a defective camera that does not have a good warranty. I would check the company selling it before I would pay a dime.

Go to http://www.resellerratings.com/store/CCI_Camera_City and see. We have a new record low rating! I have never seen one this bad. Their lifetime average is 0.31 out of a possible 10.0. Read a few buyer reviews and you won't even dream of buying here.
