my pit bull does "hi-five", "catch", a loud "speak" and a quiet "speak". You could also teach your dog to "crawl", "stand" or "roll- over"
for "hi-five" I just put my hand up by the dog (like you would for a hi-five with a person) and keep saying "hi-five" and after a while the dog should catch on. once the dog hits its paw on your hand say "good boy/girl" and give it a treat.
for catch I just throw peices of the treat in the air by the dog like I would if I thought he already knew how to catch. The treat will probably just fall on the floor, but after a while the dog will start trying to catch it.
for the loud speak, I just say "speak" and barkl like a dog. When the dog barks back I just say "good boy/girl" and give them a treat.
for the quiet speak I just do a quiet, breathy bark. When the dog does the same, I say "good boy/girl" and give a treat.

You'll probably get alot more interesting answers, but we taught our dog to "speak" when we said the word. Also, she had different toys, like a squeaky toy, or a rawhide bone, or when playing outside,it was sticks she would fetch, and if we told her to go get whichever toy, she knew exactly which toy to get. She knew exactly what a Frisbee was too, lol We still don't know how she could actually see and know that other animals were on the T.V., it all started with that moose on the opening of Northern Exposure. She would run to that T.V. and bark and wag her tail, as soon as she heard the theme song. lol

you could teach him/her to roll over, smile, dance, there are a few for you to start with they may take a while but its worth waiting to see them do the tricks.

stand on hind legs, paws in air, roll over, play dead, leave treat on ground, balance treat on nose to flick up and catch, throw treat up for it to catch, bounce a ball with it's nose... and that is pretty much it.
