She is Siamese, one year old, just a little cat, gray face gray and light tan color. She had five kittens all seem to do be doing well but I was wondering if I should be giving her a special food. What do you feed mommy cats? Vitamins? Milk? Cheese? When should I take the family to the Vet?

You must have been feeding mommy right cause she had a nice family. Keep feeding her what you were, not milk, that can cause diarrhea. A good vitamin supplement for nursing moms would be good. She needs extra vitamins cause the kits will suck up alot of nutrition from her. A good time to take the family to the vet is any time you want. If it will set you at ease to have them looked at just to be sure all is right, do it. Put the whole family into mom's carrier and off you go. Keep them all together and should be ok. Otherwise could wait till the kittens need their first shots.

Usually a mommy cat can take care of things herself, but if this is her first time you might want to at least contact the vet and announce the happy event. I would say "no" to milk or cheese as those might give them diarrhea. But of course they all need water, and kitten food for the babies, and a sandbox so the mother could teach them how. They do grow fast. But call and ask the vet or his/her assistant if anything special needs to be done. Each cat will need to be vaccinated in a short period of time, maybe declawed too, and the momma cat can't be let outdoors or she will get pregnant again so you need to be a responsible owner and get her fixed, so ask the vet when you need to get them all in for an appointment. You will need to pay for all that and it surely will be expensive. Here where I live you can't give the kittens away without them having their initial shot, and if you keep them past a certain point they will have to also have their second shot as well. Find a place to keep them out of the cold (and in a comfortable place), and start thinking about how you will advertise them since you can't keep them all.

Just keep doing what you've always done for Simone. She's well prepared to take care of the kittens herself. Keep her warm and comfortable, and don't touch the kittens much for a while. I don't think she'll need any special food. Call your vet for his advice on when to bring them in for a check-up. Enjoy your time with your feline family.

i would coomfort her and let her know that you love her pet her alot. because when those kittens get a litttle bigger they will have all the attention. anywaise what mother doesnt want to be comforted after birth. when my cat "pretty" had kittens she let me pick them up and everything . i wouldnt change her diet at all maybe you can add a little vitamin because she is feeding her babies. i would take them to vet when they are 8 wks . for their shots....cats eat cheese?
