Well, Christianity is not a religion. It's a lifestlye. The very word Christian means "follower of Christ". You cannot be born a follower of Christ, that is a choice you make. Therefore, you cannot be born a Christian, or be born into Christianity.

Catholics, honestly, I don't know all that much about them. But if they honestly follow Christ and do what He says, then they are Christians.

God bless.

Also, someone who answered before said that catholics are Christians b/c they "look at Jesus Christ as the Savior". Yes, but even the devil believes in Jesus and knows He is the Savior.....doesn't mean he's a Christian or that he's saved. Believing does nothing. Actions, and actually following Christ is what He asks of us. In one word, it's obedience.

Yes, Roman Catholicism is a type of Christianity. The main difference between the two faiths is that Catholics follow the pope as our leader. In addition, we believe as Catholics that the host and wine are transformed into the body and blood of Jesus during Mass, and we also place more emphasis on Mary, the mother of God than other faiths do.

However, many beliefs between Catholicism and Christianity are very similar -- both believe in the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and have many of the same traditions, etc. However, Catholicism was established by Jesus himself, while other faiths were created later, as branches of the Church that formed their own faiths.

Hope this helps you!! I would also strongly encourage you to find more out about Catholicism by visiting a Roman Catholic Church in your area -- you may be pleasantly surprised!!! :D

Yes. do you still love me?
Within the Catholic faith the truth is preserved. Other Christian denominations argue over some precepts: the status of the Pope, the acceptance of divorce, the status of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the treatment of angels and saints, whether Saturday instead of Sunday be used as the main day of worship. There are more things (like money/charity) and if you look up the history of these divisions, usually the people were protesting against something that you can't really blame them for. And sometimes, their loyalties to their country's ruler was divided. Maybe, just mis-information or just plain hatred divided them. People are people. We love our own opinion first, is that not so? It is difficult to be perfect.

Of course Catholics are Christians. Saint Peter was the rock upon which Jesus would build his church. He was the first Pope. Protestants are also Christians. They broke away from the Catholic church starting with Martin Luther in the 16th Century.

Catholics are considered Christians because they acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. However, Catholics follow man made doctrine and practices that are not commonly found in Christianity.

Yes, they are. More than 1/2 of all Christians are Catholic. Yours is like asking if Methodists are Christian.

Big difference. Let's me break it down.

Catholics believe God is a trinity. Christians believe that Jehovah alone is the Most High. (Ps. 83:18) Jesus is the Son of God, not God. (John 10:36; Luke 1:35)

Catholics go to war. Christians obey Jesus' words to "love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you." (Matt. 5:44) True Christians do not participate in ANY wars.

Catholics call their ministers "Father." True Christians obey Jesus' words: "Do not call anyone your father on earth, " using the word as a religious title. Matt. 23:9

Catholics celebrate pagan holidays, like Easter, Christmas, and Halloween. True Christians shun such observances, preferring to worship God with "spirit and truth." John 4:24.

Catholics venerate the cross, even though it is a pagan symbol that predates Christianity by thousands of years. True Christians shun anything that is involved in false religion.

There is more, but I will stop here.
