No you don't need one. Domestic flights you only need photo ID that shows you are the same person as the name printed on the ticket.

And there are currently no plans to require a passport for domestic flights.

No you don't need a passport to travel within the US... just a photo ID like your drivers license. We always encourage people to get their passport though.... you never know when you might want to take a trip that will need one.... and you'll be ready. Why would you need a passport to fly within the U.S. if you are a citizen of the U.S. Passports are for only out of country travel. Now, you must use one when flying to Mexico...that is all that has changed.

No but you should always carry a government issued ID like a driver's license. Doesn't have to be a passport.

not as long as it is within the US and you have proper identification (i.e. driver's license)
