I've heard it pronounced as sa-MOY-ed and, more recently SAMMY-ed. Is one 'correct,' or is this just a to-ma-to to-mah-to thing?

They say (you know, THEY) the correct pronunction from the original word is "Sammy-ed". But all of the people I know who are fanciers say "Sam-oyed.

I say correct is in the mouth and ear of the pronouncer.

I've been wondering the same thing. I always thought it was the former, but I watched a dog show on tv Saturday and the announcer was pronouncing it as Sammy-ed.

I've heard the whole "Sammy-ed" thing, but I work in the pet care industry, and every groomer, vet, breeder, and other worker in any pet care field I've know has pronounced is "sa-MOY-ed", myself included.
