On the contrary.
My grandmother gave me one when I was ten and I wore it proudly and independently. My parents thought it was cute, and encouraged me to keep wearing it because they were proud of my courage and free mind.
I won't make my children wear anything they don't want to, but I sure will encourage them to develop an independent mind and values. If they'll choose to follow our tradition, I will be very glad.

If I was a Jewish boy I'd be like that guy on Beerfest with all the different yarmulke designs. That was so cool.

actually no,
I started wearing a yarmulke when I was about 14 out of my own free will and often against my parents objections.
I still wear one to this day.

I'm not Jewish. Nor am I a boy. But if you want my opnion here it goes: I think those things are cute. Not cute in an attractive sense, but cute in the sense that.....it's just cute. lol. I like to see little boys wear them and older men too. I guess I'm a traditional type of person. lol....oh, well.

i'm a convert - my hubby and son go through phases, sometimes everyday sometimes just to temple and on holidays (and yeah, it is like they have different ones for every outfit - i laughed so hard when i saw that on beerfest). honestly i wish they would wear them more often, i think it looks cute, especially the kinda funky ones that look like scully caps.
