Christianity is based on the idea that God demands a propitiatory sacrifice. This made sense to 1st century Mediterranean cultures. Animal sacrifices were made in all the finer temples.

However, in 21st Century culture, it has lost its ability to communicate. What's a better metaphor for communicating the Christian message.

I spent 3 years caring for my partner as he lay sickened from cancer, including giving up my job to do so, until he died. And I considered it not a sacrifice at all. I'm sorry if you consider your life a sacrifice.

How about Christ giving up his X-box to save mankind from sin?

It has but, it shouldn't have. The sacrifice of Jesus is what we are to unite our daily sacrifices to and in this day and age the idea of self sacrifice is repugnant to many. This is why there is such a shortage of volunteers all around the country. This is why elderly people sit in nursing homes lonely because nobody visits them. This is why women abort their babies. Selfishness has taken over.

precisely. that question is why you at present have a raffle to re-think of the story, in person words. Snake replaced right into a metaphor for the snake god, which replaced into the god of the sea. Sea is the source of fertility (white foam). that's variety of extra complicated than the grade college version. Genesis is variety of a precis of the present interior of reach gods (on the time), and exhibiting how guy interacts with them to his discredit, and God regulations over all. it is likewise the story of ways adult men and ladies improve up and alter into sexually conscious, it fairly is, "the place do toddlers come from" Adam and Eve are like little infants -- they run around the backyard nude and study the names for each and all of the animals. "provide each and every little thing names." They dont even understand they are nude. in simple terms like littel teenagers who take off their swimsuits interior the summertime. women mature until now than adult men -- around age 10 or 11. wisdom related to the guy's snake (penis) makes the girl attentive to her apples (breasts) and that they "partake" together. They sense distinctive. Insecure. (what adolescent would not sense that way?) next subject you recognize they are thinking like grown-ups. "Ay caramba," says Adam "somebody has to place nutrition on the table on a daily basis. We;ve been residing in Paradise, yet now its MY turn to tend the orchard." "Jeez, those month-to-month cramps harm." not extra backyard. Curses on that darned Snake.subject is, there is no SIN in this tale. in simple terms wisdom. issues we did no longer understand until now. "Now the guy is one human beings."

How about this one: Jesus Christ, the pure, unblemished Lamb of God, was sacrificed on the Cross for our sins and to allow us fallen sinners a chance to be with Him in Heaven for all of eternity.

Sacrifice is not and never has been a metaphor. We are still doing it today, although today's society wants to push a "me first" attitude. Think of the brave men and women who have gone to Iraq. They are sacrificing their time and sometimes their lives to give a foreign people the chance at freedom and a domestic people a chance to live free of terrorism. Think of the fire-fighters and police sacrificing their lives to protect people they will never know. Finally, we are not dealing with some sales gimmick to get people to "buy into", we are dealing with true events with someone who gave more than you or I ever will.

In Christianity, every sin is dealt with by God in one of two ways. Either God satisfies the law by exercising his punishment upon the sinner by sending him to eternal damnation, or, he places the sins of the person on Jesus Christ who suffers the punishment in place of the person. Either way, the justice of God is never ignored.
In this way, sin is dealt with by an act of justice. A holy and righteous God cannot let sin go unpunished.

Do you really think that people do not understand the concept of sacrifice? You must not have any children, or ever had sick parents, or been involved in a tragedy ... I think you personally don't understand what a sacrifice is.

Jesus Himself was a sacrifice. It's not a metaphor. He really did give Himself for you.

God bless.
