What do you believe in, and why do you believe it?
I'm not trying to get answers to make fun of, it's just in the interest of knowledge.

The center of the religion is a believe in Christ as your savior. However, we also believe that if you truly believe in Christ then you will be participating in his works as well.

The reason the mormon religion is split from so many other Christian religions is that we dont believe those religions ever had the priesthood authority from God to be established. We believe in the original church of God, the one first established in the Old Testament, then fulfilled and clarified by Jesus Christ when he came to this earth. We don't believe Peter established the Catholic Church. We believe men established their own church with no authority from God to do so and that they never had the priesthood authority. If this is true then, since ever single other christian religion is split off of the Catholic church, mostly via the protestant split, then none of those churches ever had the authority from God to claim they are God's church. That is why God had to reestablish his authority later on and that is what we believe he did when he gave that authority to Joseph Smith. Joseph didnt establish a new church. He reestablished the original church complete with apostles, prophets and temples. If you look at the organization of the Mormon church you will find it mirrors the biblical churches more closely then any others right now. You also have to ask the Catholic and other churches how they can change their doctrines or church organizations if they claim no prophetic revelations. God always in the Bible worked thru men, prophets of God. Why would he just stop now, when we seem to need clarification more then ever.

If you want real specifics on exact doctrine and what mormons believe then I suggest you go to LDS.org, the official church website and stay clear from the mormon hating websites. Who knows better about what a mormon believes then a mormon. You could also ask the missionaries to come over and they will answer your question and unlike what you might have heard they wont harrass or hound you. If you find you dont want anything else to do with them, they will leave you alone afterwards.

The best place to get this information would be to visit their website. www.lds.org You'll get a lot of answers from people on here who have no idea what the religion is truly about. Contrary to popular belief, they are Christians, do accept the trinity, and no longer practice polygamy.

*I'm not a member, but I did attend the church for many years.

From what I understand, Mormon's believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers. I still don't see how that's right. Also, they believe that Jesus, when he said something about seeing his other sheep, or something to that effect, that He really came over to North America and ministered to the Native Americans.
