why the americans are always trying to make some conversation. It's overwhelming! Don't you understand that other people prefer to be alone in some hour of the day? Besides, why they always invite you to have lunch to "X" place. Can't they eat alone?

I guess it all depends on what type of Americans you frequent the most because all Americans aren't like that because personally i would say,"Hello" and leave it at that unless you initiated a conversation and i certainly wouldn't be inviting anyone to eat that i barely know anyway. Because everybody usually enjoys time alone be it american or not. Oh and i'm american and have no problem with eating alone if that's the way i feel but i certainly wouldn't bother with people who obvioulsy would like to be left alone.

Well I make conversation with people because I am interested in their view or to be friendly. I invite people to dinner because I want to get to know them. I guess that in some countries these actions are foreign but of all the issues that we do have being friendly does not seem like it would be high on the "fix it" list.

By the way if you do not want to socialize or have lunch just say so, I think I can live with the rejection.

A lot of Americans enjoy being alone. I am alone all the time. Too alone! I have always been a loner. Don't sterotype Americans as such.

Americans enjoy the company of people they like...obviously someone likes you although I have no clue why since you are obvioulsy unlikeable. I suggest you go find a cave somewhere (maybe with Bin Laden) and hide from everyone like the coward you are.

We are just a social lot...We like people and have an insatiable appetite for wanting to learn as much as we can about others in other countries...Its fun to get to know people...

I am from another culture. Americans are all nice....but they are very diplomatic, even if they don't like you. They can laugh and joke with you and smile and wish you, but that doesn't mean they are on your side. Anyway, no offence to any american please. It's just my personal experience.

We're friendly, not snobs. We like to make everyone feel welcome, if you don't like it just say so, we won't bother you again. We'd be happy to let you be alone if that's what you want.
