In my experience, permanent hair color ruined my hair! I had to get it cut real short and wait. Its still growing out. Permanent color is hard to remove from the hair, and if you don't like the color, (with few exceptions) you are stuck with it! It dried my hair and made it brittle and frizzy.
Rinses, on the other hand, can be ok...but most will not lighten your hair and are not permanent. Also, if you have light hair some darker colors/red rinses will stain! If you must color your hair, go to a professional, or at least stick VERY CLOSE to your natural color! If going for a semi- permanent rinse stay quite close and no darker than your natural color for best results.

Some people are allergic to the ingredients in her dye. Always do the strand test before colouring hair.
I suppose they are not good for the hair but who wants go grow old gracefully.

Hair dye really isn't that bad for your hair unless you die it ALL the time I do it every once in a while and it is perfectly healthy however my friend does it every couple of months and her hair is really dry and damaged.

They are bad for one you'll never see your hair its natural color again, and for some people when dyeing or putting highlights the hair fry's bad, mostly split ands or dead hair. But in my opinion when I have dyed my hair blonde or put highlights I feel my hair gets oily faster and when I straighten it, it fry's and I have more split ends too.

Bad.
But that shouldn't put you off having colour as the hair is very tough and PROVIDED IT IS DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL you should be ok. Not too often and look after it between repeats.

It's the chemicals in color that damage your hair. But if done correctly, there are reparitive and conditioning steps that are done to help put your hair back to a healthy, more natural state.

Doing or putting anything that isn't natural in your hair is bad for you no matter what anybody says.

well darker colours are good for your hair
but lightening your hair with bleaches and peroxides will ruin the condition of your hair.
darkening your hair adds shine =]
