If you have an animal control officer in the area, put the cat in a safe place with some food and water and some warm bedding until tomorrow. Call the animal control officer first thing in the morning and hopefully he or she will be able to come and pickup the cat at your house when you are gone. So, you will want to maybe put it in the garage or a front or back porch if you haveone. I don't know if this will work but it might be an option if there is nothing else. Perhaps the officer can bring the cat to a place where he or she can get help, like a shelter. Other than that, there may be a veterinarian clinic that has an emergency number. Often times they will list that number on the telephone answering service. If you call that number there is usually a vet on duty. Tell that person your situation and see if they have any ideas for you. I suggest just dialing the numbers of all of the vets in your area until you find someone who can help you out.

If you can't take the cat to a 24 hour vet, then call either Paws or the Humane Society and find out how to 'turn the cat over to them' ... they may come 'pick it up' because it's sick, or they may ask you to take it to them. Thank you for 'caring' about this sick, lost cat.

Is there a humane society or animal rescue near you. Most pounds haven't adopted the no kill policy that humane societies have. You could also take it to your local veterinarian. Most of them wil make them healthy (unless life threatening) and adopt them out, or I've even heard of them keeping the animal. Either way best of luck to you and that cat.

Take it to an animal shelter. Look up the address/number in the phone book.
