Just wondering because people tend to think the person who commits suicide is burning in hell, unless their last thought was that they were sorry. I'm not saying it's not wrong...just that nowhere in the bible does it say it is unforgivable. And a fair, just God understands the mental and possibly physical anguish you were enduring and would allow you to show your repentance after resurrection. So, why do you...(or people you know) believe it to be unforgivable?

Thanks.

Actually, suicide is not the unpardonable sin. And you are quite right. God knows when a person is suffering, and mentally ill. He isn't going to hold a person responsible for being mentally ill. That was not their choice. It just was. They, therefore do not need forgiveness. Not now, and not after ressurrection. They need healing.
As for the people who believe that all suicides go to hell; well- they think it's self murder. And, murderers should be punished.
Only, suicide is the end stage of a serious mental illness, not murder. And blaming such a person for that act is like blaming one with Alzheimer's Disease for their combativeness. Now, isn't it?

Suicide is not the unforgiveable sin. The unforgiveable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Suicide is a terrible thing to do but, not unforgiveable. This comes from the Catholic church that you can not repent from this sin. We need to repent from our sins true but, we are also covered with the blood of Jesus Christ for our sins. Now a true believer may not contemplate suicide. Many consider it playing God. We dont know others circumstances and Im not here to say you will or wont go to Heaven if you do. Im just stating this is not the unforgiveable sin. Amen and Peace out..........

its isnt the unpardonable sin ..... A continual rejection of Jesus or the Holy Spirits conviction is the unforgiveable ....the reason the unforgiveable sin is so unforgiveable is basically because the person doesnt want to be forgiven . They dont care that they go to hell ...
God Says " Him that cometh to me , I will in nowise cast out " God also says " He will not willing that any should perish "

it's called the unforgivable sin because you are telling God point blank that you don't want his gift of creation. That you alone have decided that you don't want to be around regardless of his plans for you and your life. Also it's "unforgivable" because you can't repent from the sin of MURDERing yourself because you are dead and therefore it can be assumed that you died not in a state of grace meaning you could indeed be doomed to hell. There are exceptions though for those too mentally ill to realize what they are actually doing, but only God can sort those out. My advice...just don't even think about it!

I personally think that it is forgivable, not always but sometimes. I know I will probably get a lot of thumbs down for this, but oh well. If the person was suffering from something, or their life was very messed up, and there was a lot of misery and suffering in it, then I believe that God would understand and forgive.

Because some do not take into account the many great philosophers who have actually done studies on it.
There was one philosopher who actually believed that suicide was not wrong. However, that was just his opinion. As far as this supposed god goes, how can he justify creating a creation only to play games with them.

I'm not sure wheter it's unforgivable or not but some people might believe that because you are unable to repent for commiting sucide because you can't repent if you just died.

Because it is loosing faith in God and unrepented murder. The last act commited is a sin against God. It is destroying God's temple, and God said in 1 Corinthians 3:16 that who destroys God's temple, they will be destroyed.

I believe many people think that life is the ultimate gift from God so choosing to end it is a mortal sin.
