Well you don`t know what you have to work with untill you first have a pollite conversation about the problem. It could be that there doesn`t have to be a problem at all, but a simple solution maybe your neighbor will offer to take them down at night or some other solution. But keep in mind that your neighbor is probley not intentionally trying to irritate you, some people like the sounds of wind chimes. You can usually get better results from being nice though. GOD BLESS

Definitely ask them to take them down or place them in another area of their yard. But be polite about it. After all, if you're rude, they can always hang more windchimes up by your window!
I'm sure they don't even realize that the chimes are keeping you up. And I'm sure that they would feel horrible if they knew.
If you talk to them often, it won't be too difficult to find the perfect time to mention it. However, if you don't speak to them often, it will be akward. Just keep reminding yourself that the sooner you tell them that the chimes are keeping you up at night, the sooner you will get a good night's rest!
Best wishes!

You are so correct, "not everyone enjoys the sound of clanging pans ALL NIGHT LONG" And some do not realize how annoying they are to others. Simply because they enjoy them. So, you should simply do yourself a favor, and politely go to the neighbors and explain the situation to them. They are probably unaware the issue that the chimes are causing. My thought is most rational people will listen if you speak in a calm manner. Good luck and God bless****

Honestly, I would try to figure out a way to block the sound of the wind-chimes. Make any changes necessary even if it means spending a couple of dollars. Would you ask the traffic department to stop traffic during your night sleep? Of course not. You would have to consider relocating, and this costs money. So rather than becoming enemies with your neighbors make a few accommodations to fit your comfort. Good Luck!

It's always best to be courteous about your request to tone the wind chimes down. Perhaps they could slip a tether around them at night so they don't disturb your sleep. Explaining the problem and asking politely is certainly worthwhile. It could be they have a hearing problem and the chimes don't seem as loud to them as they do to you. If politeness and tact doesn't work then contact the local authorities and see if there is any kind of noise ordinance that would cover it.

How DARE you think you have the right to disturb your neighbors like that. It's THEIR windchimes, on THEIR property. Just because you don't like their windchimes, means you have an excuse to just take them away? What if your neighbors were black, and that kept you up all night. Is there a difference? Not in terms of how it affects your sleep. Oh, but that would be rude to tell them to move out because they were black, right? You just need to get over it! The world does not revolve around you, when you choose to move into a neighborhood you choose to live with all of your neighbors too.

I would just insulate the bedroom wall -- I live by a busy street and all kinds of night time noises used to bother me -- when I got the house insulated and they put in new double paned windows -- the noise didn't bother me anymore ..

simply ask them if they would mind tying the chimes up at night, explain (politely) that the noise is quite loud in your bedroom and interferes with your sleep, perhaps soften them up by saying how pretty they sound during the day!
