We have a child who has ADHD and SPD. He is wonderful during the day because he is on med's.
However at night he will not settle down, We had tried sleeping medicine and at first that worked but he got use to it and he is already on the highest dose that he can SAFELY get.
I feel very bad for our neighbors because he will keep them up most nights and they just had a new baby so I understand that they would HATE us and want to see us leave.
However now because our landlord won't kick us out due to his disability they are making things up. and we would love to find a new place but we have not found a rental home in our price range and currently we are trying to get a loan to buy a home.
Every time I try to talk to our neighbors about this they walk away.

Does anyone know of any programs that will help people caring for someone with a disability get into there own home?
Or just any company's that will get anyone into a home?

Also any tips on this matter would be helpful...Thanks

AmeriDream and the FannieMae Foundation. Contact a realtor, they are VERY helpful in helping find financing creatively. By the way, I can see where your neighbors are coming from. It isn't fair to them or their little one that your child keeps them up. I'd try a new doctor, obviously the one you go to does bot know what he is doing if he can't help your son at least get a decent nights sleep. That's got to be rough on you him and his teachers, let alone the neighbors.

I don't know of any good programs, but you could offer to split the price of better insulation in the flooring or walls to keep the noise down. If they don't listen, write a letter (keep it polite!!) and tape it to their door.

Talk to you doctor about other options for helping your son cope at night. Drugging him cannot be the only solution.

check social services and you might do a search help from any one or group that deals with or dealt with adhd family members. They might come up with answers for you

Do either of you have parents that will let you stay with them until you find a place of your own?
