My dad will get mad when I wear a skirt. He dosent like when guys look at me either. I dont get it, the guy needs to lighten up. I cant look nice without him saying change the outfit. I say why he says I am a guy i know how they think. Whats wrong with him? Other people can wear skirts but I cant. I cant dress 'sexy'? Is he old fashioned or is this normal?

August, I like to dress sexy. Not everything hanging out but whats wrong with a little bit of sexiness? It has nothing to do with self esteem. Its how I like to dress and im proud of my body. Whats wrong with that? I dont get you guys, you love sex and sexy girls yet you contradict yourself and say dont dress that way.

I don't know how old you are (ill assume your in your teens) but its because your his little girl. The same one that he held the day you were born thats why.

You sound really young, the reason why your dad is like this is he is protective and doesn't want you wearing clothes that are revealing because when you do guys will practically only think about sex and how good you'd be in bed. Another thing is that he wants you to respect your body and not put it on display for guys to look at. You are also asking to get raped if you dress like a whore all the time. He doesn't want you to get hurt. You can dress sexy but it should be something that doesn't show too much cleavage and that makes you look good.

Take the advice of all these nice people.
i am a female road traiffic controller, i have had to sit and have lunch with many groups of men and they are dusgusting when their wives and girlfriends aren't around, they see a chick walking up the road as a piece of meat as a potential to root. comments like "look at that i can see right through that skirt oh i'd like to f**k that" thie young lady might be only 17. or a chick wearing a little top and a little skirt doesn't leave much to the imagination. or if you see a prostitute on the side of the road and you think look at what she's wearing and think about the impression you get from seeing her showing all her ho bits, then think of your dad he has this beautiful little baby come into his life, he tries to reais her the best he can and now all she wants to do is to dress and act like some ho that his mates howl and yahoo at on the side of the road. do you really want to look like the next hooker on the side of the road? or do you want a guy to see you as a lady, and therefore want to know your personality or what he's catching a glimpse of under your nasty skirt?

This is completely normal on his part. Most of the girls who'll be wearing shorter/sexy stuff earn disrespect from adults, teachers, parents, and even are treated like meat by your male peers as well as perverse older men. If you were a troll, your dad would not care, he wouldn't worry, but you are probably attractive and he knows someone will be trying to get you in the sack. Be wise and wait as well as dress with better standards than you peers who have less involved caring parents. Oh, and thank your dad for caring. (A middle school health teacher who sees many skanky outfits a day.)

Why do you want to wear something "sexy" is the question. Are you trying to be easy for the guys to get? If so, then why that? Do you feel bad about yourself? In my opinion, if a girl consciously wears something that even they consider sexy, then they've got some self-esteem issues. You're dad doesn't want you to be a slut, because that would make him feel like he failed in raising you. No matter how crazy you think your dad is, he knows what's best for you.

He is just trying to protect you for as long as he can. Not to control but to protect. Don't you read the news, women(girls) that dress like that are instant targets for predators. You should respect him and yourself to not dress like that as young as you are. You can dress anyway you want later on when you are old enough to make your own life decisions. Remember that he was a horn dog at one time too and he knows what guys look for in easy women. Ask your mother if she got away with wearing that kind of stuff when she was your age. ( I bet not). Just be patient. I know you want to impress all the guys but you may invited more attention that what you raelly want.

It's the parents job to show us they know better, AND, it's our job to prove them wrong.
Obviously, like any other caring parent, your father is trying to protect you from the bad guys, after all you are his little girl. What you have to do is show him that you know what to do and can differentiate between what's right and wrong.
You can look sexy without revealing too much or dressing short skirts.

You're daddy's little girl. My dad was the same way when I first starting wearing skirts, and spaghetti straps and all that. He'd tell me to go change.
But eventually he'll get over it and see that you're not a little girl anymore. Just be glad that he actually cares, ya know? Some girls aren't so fortunate to have a dad that cares.

maybe it's because of your age....don't get mad for your dad being overprotective u will appreciate it later when u have respect for yourself and the other girls become fast and get a bad name.....i'm 22 and my dad is still overprotective but now i appreciate it because if he didn't then i would have been fast and messed my life up like my other friends most of them are nasty and sleep around with no respect for their self because they were wearing short skirts for the guys. and u should'nt have to wear short skirts to get a guys attention if a guy doesn't accept how u dress then forget him he's not worth it.

completely normal. because dads are cute and thats what they do. they always look after you and protect you because your their little girls. being guys them selves they know what guys think and how they act. he's only doing the right thing, respect him for that. meet him half way and explain how ur confident and strong willed so you can still dress yourself but just not as sexy to meet his expectations. hopefully it works out!

He's your dad!! He doesn't want any guy looking at you like that or getting any "ideas" about you.
It is perfectly normal and you should respect his wishes... trust me you have plenty of time once you move out to dress however you want.
And other people can dress how they want because their parents don't give a damn. I know you don't feel lucky, but you are because your dad cares.
