Take this as your shopping list the next time you go to a liquor store:
* Chandon brut ( California sparkling wine. It wouldn’t be called champagne because it was not made in the region called champagne, France. This is the American form of champagne and it comes in brut which is medium dry, rose and extra dry). The price ranges $13-$16.
* Paul Chenue is a French brand and is the same as the Chandon; it didn’t come from the Champagne region of France. Price: $9
* Saint Hilare brut: excellent taste. I actually like this one, especially the saint hilare semi-sweet which is a little bit sweeter than the brut. You can find it around $9 or $11( visit www.jackpoust.com/sh.htm to see what label look like).
* Roederer Estate is the sparkling wine that is made in the U.S., cost is $15 or less. The more expensive which is called Louis Roederer is a champagne that is made in France.
