does cocoa powder ever go bad after being opened...I have had some up in my pantry for about a year now...I used half of it for a cake last year and totally forgot about it...just found it...good to bake with still?

Assuming it was kept covered and dry, it should be good forever. There's no significant amount of fat in cocoa powder, so there's nothing in it that could become rancid or spoiled. If it looks and smells OK, then it's fine. The flavor may have become a little weaker or "muted", but it's still perfectly edible.

i doubt it would go bad since its powder form, have a sniff at it just to make sure if its tangy...u kno what to do ...:)

i would sift it through a strainer, ya never know.
