Sounds like a flu virus. Ive had the same thing and several weeks later and im still having sore aching joints and have been hit with the ears and throat twice as i got run down after first bout. Many people i know have had the same thing and its doing its rounds. The lack of taste is the virus affecting your ears nose and throat as they are connected. If your run down it will last longer and it is best to stay in bed and drink plenty of water and grab a bottle of orange juice. Its important to drink fluids often. You need to keep your temperature down and you probably find you will start sweating. Dont over heat yourself but stay warm. Eat fruit and if your throat gets too sore ice cream is easy to swollow and gives temporary relief to your throat or even an ice cube. Get rid of tissues as soon as youve used them and keep your hands clean as germs spread. Get a nice dvd and rest until you feel better but dont excersise whilst unwell as it could r aise your blood preasure or heart rate. Take it easy and rest gives your body a chance to heal. Its temporary. If it doesnt clear up after a few days you need to see your gp. You can see if its turned into an infection as your wiggies will go green and if you start developing a bad cough see your gp as chest infections etc can cause problems especially if your asthmatic. But if you are asthmatic you are restricted on over the counter medicines as they can trigger asthma off bad. Ask the chemist and tell him/her if you are asthmatic. Hope you feel better soon and dont forget, f you get very unwell ring the gp. Viruses can affect us all differently.

It could be flu but more likely a viral infection or bad cold.
Drink plenty of fluid, get plenty of rest and if you see no improvement for a couple of days then contact your doctor.
I'm just getting over a viral infection myself, very similar to what you describe. I came down with it on Monday and still am not 100% although I now feel fine but have a VERY croaky voice!

From the review of your symptoms, it sounds like you have got the flu. It is best to drink plenty of fluids, limit solid foods, take flu medication, and get plenty of rest. If you are not starting to get better in three to five days, I would advise you to visit your doctor as it could be something worse (bronchitis or pneumonia).

Sounds like the flu, especially if you are running a fever. See a doctor.....stay away from children and the elderly which are affected worse by this illness.

Call NHS direct and talk to someone if you're really worried but you've had the energy to turn on your computer and list a question so it's probably not flu

It must be an upper respiratory tract infection. You might experience fever as your body fights the infection. See a doctor to diagnose the cause. He'll probably give you antibiotics and advise you to rest. Hope this helps
