I'm wanting to get a tattoo, of course it would be my first tat. so its going to be small. I want to get simple black outline of cross on the inside of my right foot by the heel/ ankle part. Needles don't really bother me, like when I give blood or have to get shots when I'm sick so I'm not worried about the pain although I don't hear or see many ppl with tats there. Is it safe? Should I get one? I know it will be there for the rest of my life, thats why I want it to be small and at the end of my foot so I can hide it if I need to. I'm just worried about all the aids, hiv's, and other things you can get. So any suggestions.....

It is safe if you go to a professional, licensed studio.
Look for licenses and health certificates. Ask about their sterilisation proceedures. If they dont say "autoclave" then head straight for the door, any other method does not kill ALL the nasties that can be transmitted. By going to a place that is unsanitary you are also risking a badly trained artist, the skin there is vert tender and machines have to be set a certain way to compromise for that. An ignorant artist could scar you for life not knowing things like that.
Watch their proceedures, see if they use a lot of plastic barriers on everything they touch, latex gloves etc etc. ALSO make sure they open the packages of needles and equipment infront of you. It is illegal in many states for them not to.
Here is a link to a longer list of all that you should be looking for to keep yourself safe. http://www.everytattoo.com/tattooforum/viewtopic.php?t=948

There is a risk of contracting blood-borne infections such as HIV or hepatitis from getting a tattoo, just as there is from acupuncture or any other procedure where the skin is broken. But getting a tattoo is perfectly safe so long as the person doing it uses sterile equipment and proper procedures (for example, putting small amounts of ink into disposable containers and throwing away any excess after use, to ensure that contaminated ink is never used). Any reputable tattoo artist will do this, and will be happy to tell you all about it - it's an important part of their business! Check whether there are any local regulations in your area and ensure that, if there are, the studio complies with them (for example, in the UK, all tattoo studios must be registered with the local authority and display a certificate confirming this).
One of the first things that will strike you about a tattoo studio is the distincive disinfectanty smell, and you'll find they're usually scrupulously clean. Of course, there's no point taking any chances, so if you have any concerns at all, then walk away. But I'd suggest talking to some tattoo artists in your local area about how they ensure their customers are kept safe, as it's something that professionals take very seriously indeed. Hopefully this will set your mind at ease. I have four tattoos, all of which have been done in properly sterile conditions, and I've never had any problems from any of them (and give blood regularly).
Hope this helps; good luck!

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

i have a star on the inside of my ankle and it was OK! it's as safe as the outside of your ankle! What you need to look out for is if the shop has an AUTOCLAVE Machine and Bio-hazard containers. The autoclave machine sterilizes all forms of microorganisms so it's completely clean. no germs or anything. the bio hazard containers basically keep everyone from being exposed to those evil microbes in our blood. They will shave and clean the skin before they tattoo your skin! So you'll be fine if they are very professional and safe with those items!

i am pretty sure that it is safe bc one of my teachers had a small butterfly on her ankle. she did however hate the tat and said she wished she had never done it bc some jobs will not give you a chance if you have them. she was in the process of saving all that money to get it removed. i think you should deeply consider how you may feel about it later on in life. you also need to remember that when people get older, it fades, and you dont always stay really skinny, so it might stretch. i personally would not get one bc of all these things but it is your decision. i hope you make the right decision.

its going to be fine just remember to use &d ointment and it will be beautiful i myself have the female budda(and its a rather large tatt) on my hip the thing about ankle tatts is that the skin is so close to the bone when they tattoo you there it hurts like hell
just take the time you need to find a good artist and you might want to get a fancier cross instead of just a plain cross little plain things get boring when you get a tattoo you want a piece of art not something plain so take the time to look online or where ever for a really nice cross that you will love looking at for the rest of your life

Yes it's safe as long as the person giving you the tattoo uses clean, sterilized needles. But my question to you is, "Why do you want to put such a holy thing as a cross on your foot?"

I think that spot is hot & sexy & a little badass and also private. Its a very cool place for a tattoo. (I'm a straight female with only 2 tattoos) It is often overlooked as a great place to put one. GO FOR IT.

Think about your wedding day. Wearing a great dress, pull it up to do the garter and having a ankle tat in the pic....tacky in my opinion. having your kid see it and want to get inked later. You will probably always have something come up where you'll want to wear sandals and cant hide it. When you're old and the elasticity of your skin has changed and it looks weird. Dont do it. It costs WAY more to get it taken off!

Hello friend i want you to realised that what soever a mind could be worried about is not what doing and it could lead to an everlasting bitterness of mind so don't do it even my bible goes against having tattoo on once body so please don't do it and more so you said that you may want to hide it later in the future which means that something in you is indirectly against it ,please hear from your inner man cheers .
