Car was running fine, then just died. Engine turns over but there is no spark going to the distributor. We have changed distributor, checked coils and spark plugs....what else is there to do? Hear about engine control module, but not sure where or what that is. Can anybody help?

Crankshaft position sensor. If this sensor is bad, you will have not spark and no fuel delivery.

The sensor is located on the driver's side in the transmission bell housing just as the transmission meets the engine. It is held on by two screws and connected to an electrical connector. They run about $53.

i own a repair shop, and the control module is located in the distributor on this one,it is possible if you got a used distributor for it that it may not be any good, other wise the control module is what makes it fire, and if its not getting any spark at all that would be what i checked first ,also look real careful in the fuse panel, for any sign of a blown fuse, some of this stuff, along with the ecm is controlled by a fuse, good luck,i hope this help,s.

Look for the fuse box on the driver's side fender. Follow the wires out the bottom to a "y" about a foot away. Wiggle that area while trying to start. Same as that year dodge has a problem there.

Believe this is still the Renix system: there is a crank position sensor by the bell housing that senses notches on the flywheel. It is the "heart" of the fuel injection and spark system on those.

Crank sensor first. If the crank sensor is not working the ECM isn't seeing any RPM when you crank the engine and so its not activating injectors or spark.
