I would recommend an older Honda Civic or Accord. Don't think you are getting a better car just because it is newer. For example, for $4,000, you could get a 1999 Honda Civic or a 2005 Ford Focus... there is a reason that the Honda is still holding it's value. Hondas are very reliable and good on gas too. For that price, there isn't a whole lot of other cars I would recommend... maybe a Toyota Corolla... Good luck. :)

Like most people are saying, either get a Honda, or Toyota. There is a reason you see so many older hondas and toyotas on the road still. Its because they are better quality and not to mention better on gas milage than american made cars. They also do hold their value longer. If anything the body of they car will go before the engine. Most of them can go on for over 200,000 miles now days. And for people who say to buy american because it will help the economy, its not that fact that people buy foreign cars , that are economy is slowing, thats Bushes fault, so let him fix it.
