No, legally they can't....but that doesn't mean they WON'T take it. You'd better talk to the police, just to make sure...and then send your girlfriend's parents a letter by certified mail (so that you can PROVE they got it) stating that the car is paid up and is not costing them a dime, and they have no right to take it.That way...if they DO take it...you can file legal charges against them.

Heck no!! Your'e girlfriend's parents have no right take YOUR car. Communicate with her parents and her and you will have it all figured out. Communication is the key. There is some legal issues here too.Sue them if they try to take your car. It is HER financial problem, not YOURS. They will have to take HER things, not yours. Tell her that you wish to help but they cannot take YOUR personal possesion. Best wishes to you, and I hope you figure this mess up.

ABSOLUTELY NOT-If your car is paid off it belongs to you , FREE AND CLEAR. period. who the hell do they think they are trying to threathen kids like that- ? is this why they co-signed so they could control her and you? how devious--she should move out and get them off her back, buy her some new clothes, [so-sign only means they will pay it if you did not pay for it]

If you were a real man, you wouldn't care about her old clothes, you can buy her some new ones. Her parents can not take your car, that's just dumb and childish of them.
P.S. How is it in Cali?

No they cannot take your car. You're not the one deliquent in the payments. If they try, sue the hell out of them.

go to the police department and get yourself a lawer because if they DO take the car, then you can sue them for it and your gf can sue them for neglecting her and taking her clothes away from her.
