Aim Archery has a good line of inexpensive recurves to choose from. They also produce some of the recurves sold under bigger brand names.

Your not allowed to hunt with crossbows in New South Wales so I must of been hunting goats somewhere else ;)

I had a barnett panzer recurve, and it lacked penetration even with twin blade broad heads. Replaced it later on with a Horton Hunter compound, much better bow, more power, flatter trajectory.

Hard as it is, I suggest that you hold off a little longer (save up) and buy a compound Horton. I would rather have a second hand better unit than a cheap recurve unit. The difference is worth the wait.

Check your local laws. In some states (I know this is true in NC and Illinois) you have to be disabled to use a crossbow. Many states require compound bow unless you are disabled.

That depends on what the job is that you are trying to get done. What are you shooting at and what is the distance?
