If your mother is separated from your step father, you only use your mother's income. If she's accepting his child's child support payments, then that's her income and it must be included.

If she is not going to continue to accept this child support, contact your college financial aid office and perhaps they will adjust your FAFSA info to reflect less income.

Good luck!

According to the FAFSA website, they said to seperate your mother's tax information from your step dad's if they filed a joint tax return. I am not sure on reporting the child support on the form, but I recommend talking to a financial aid officer.

when you complete the fafsa, it will ask you when your parents were separated (mother and step father). Put your mothers income and the child support will need to be indicated on either worksheet a or b.

Do not list your stepfather's income. He's not your bio. father and he doesn't live in the same home anymore.

When you report your mother's income from last year's tax forms, the child support she received was already included in that income total, so you do not need to report it separately.
