Ok, so you have Satan in Hell, torturing people. But why is he doing this? Wouldn't he do anything to go AGAINST God's wishes? Seeing as the people in Hell are sinners and unbelievers, wouldn't Satan recruit them to fight against God, not torture them?
And if God loves us, why does He hand over souls to His most hated enemy? If Satan tortures people because he gets sadistic pleasure from it, why does God allow Satan to do this?
Why have perceptions of Satan changed? In the book of Job, he was God's lieutenant and governor of Hell, why is he now His adversary?
Why does God allow Satan to exist? If He is omnipotent, why didn't He simply destroy him instead of sending him souls?
An answer from anyone who believes in Satan would be much appreciated.

Satan is not God's torturer in Hell, in fact Hell isn't necessarily a flaming pit with demons and the like... what we know of Hell is that the pain and great "gnashing of teeth" comes from the absence of God. Hell is separation from God, and that is why people who refuse God go there, they didn't want him, now they can exist without him, and that is also why Satan is there, in complete separation from God.

Satan is a fallen angel, he was very close to GOd until he decided to be superior to God. God gives everyone free will. Wouldn't it suck if you were in a country where you have all these restrictions and you lived like puppets? God loves us and he gives us the opportunity to be with him. We must be punished for not believing in God. So he sends us to hell. Satan will be in a lake of fire. He will be suffering also. I believe satan exists but i don't worship him because God is bigger and more powerful than he is. Satan cannot really fight against God, he would gain nothing because God is too powerful and grand. Hope this helps

You know it's funny that you should mention that as I was thinking the same damn thing. In the old testament Satan is or can be considered somewhat of an accomplice and isn't even mentioned all that much. In the new testament Satan is mentioned so much and is seen as this powerful force that it's like he became a demi-god or even a god. People don't realize that. Good question.

Good question...some thoughts...
Possibly the governor of hell idea is a muslim one. In the OT version of Job God allows Satan to do things that will test Job.
Satan as shown in Zechariah is a bit more clearly evil.
----------------
In the New Testament the teaching on Satan is much more comprehensive. He is the head of an organised group of fallen angels and demons who oppose God's will.
It would appear that somehow the sinfulness of this world gives Satan a legal right to afflict and deceive people, hence the title 'god of this world'. How exactly I don't know. Possibly God could not destroy Satan without destroying us, since He has to be fair, and we are also evil, though less so, in God's view; because God is absolutely pure.
His love is seen in sending Jesus. Jesus has paid the full price the most absolute justice requires, so people who trust in him and accept his sacrifice receive perfect forgiveness. God is frightening in his holiness to us sinners.

ok if God exists he is not something to fight against. Satan rebels against him but even he knows this. I dont think God hands over any souls to satan. God does know what will everyone do in their lives but everyone has their own mind and heart. We make our decisions by ourselves...we cant blame God for them. Nothing happens without God's permission, true, but God does not tell us or force us to make the wrong decisions we make in life. In my religion, satan told God that he would try to make his followers stray away from him and God agreed. That is why faith is so important in my religion...its kind of like loyalty. Hope this made some sense.

Satan and the Biblical god seem to be buddies. Just read the book of Job in the Bible. Doesn't it seem to you like they're just two pals making a friendly bet?

That "if God loves us" is one big IF. And that's really your problem.

Because Christianity doesn't believe that Satan is in hell at this time torturing people. He is on Earth. If he was in hell then he would be tortured also.
I dont know where this myth came from.

The Bible speaks of devil as a roaring lion, going about to seek whom he can spoil. What makes you imagine he might want to reward those he pulls into hell? i'm no longer positive I keep on consisting of your assumption of devil being maligned. once you're a Jehovah witness you do not position self assurance in a literal hell besides. do not you adult males ascribe to soul sleep (non-life) after lack of existence, and annihilation of the wicked, that all unsaved are destroyed after the resurrection and judgment? The Bible claims that Jesus descended to hell in a non secular body at the same time as his flesh body laid contained in the tomb, and preached to the spirits in penitentiary there, a number of whom were there because Noah's day. 1Pe 3:18, "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the only for the unjust, that he might want to deliver us to God, being positioned to lack of existence contained in the flesh, yet quickened by the Spirit: by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in penitentiary; Which sometime were disobedient, at the same time as once the longsuffering of God waited contained in the days of Noah, at the same time as the ark replaced right into a making waiting, in which few, it truly is, 8 souls were kept by water."
