Hello,
That feeling you describe is NOT caused by fear. It is called a paresthesia, and is very easily explained. I'm sure you have had the experience of your arm or leg "going to sleep". That's because you've held it in a single position for a long time, and compromised the blood flow, which deadens the nerves. When you change position and blood flow resumes, the nerves "wake up" and start to fire randomly, causing this stinging or "pins and needles" sensation. I would suggest a simple treatment to prevent this from occurring. First, take breaks while driving, especially long distances. Stop and get out of the car and stretch, walk around a bit or jog in place. This will get your blood moving again, increase your energy and attention, and lessen the chance of small blood clots forming in your legs (which could be dangerous). Or, use a cushion underneath you when you drive so you're not sitting on a hard surface. Or, simply change positions (safely) while driving, so you get adequate blood flow to and from your butt and legs.
