Just a guilt trip to get you to go to church on Sunday. God may take his job so he doesn't have to work on Sunday.

There could be any number of motives. Sure, you need to worship, but it's not always possible to attend church services. You can worship in your home, car, friend's home. Nowhere does it state in the Bible, that you have to worship out of a church building.
I would ask him what about those who are in law enforcement, doctors, firefighters. Are they supposed to neglect their duties? Lives hang in the balance with their jobs.
My former Pastor was far more understanding. He said that God understood someone not attending if it was impossible for them to do so.
I stopped attending church many long years ago for other reasons. I'm still a Christian, but I also refuse to allow someone or something dictate to me what to believe.
This guy needs a serious reality check.

I've always wondered at the fervent devotion that various pastors, reverends and priests put on their services.
You don't think there might be a bit of conflict of interest there do you? These people's livelihoods depend on people showing up at their service and giving them money for being so devout, and yet they have a problem with other people earning money at the same time?
I don't recall any part of the bible that specifically says you have to spend an hour in a specific building every week in order to be worthy of his love.
I think these 'religious leaders' are just scared people will realize that we don't need their help to grow spiritually.

i'm praying that he meant that god would bless them and take care of them and still spiritually bless them, but that isn't what it sounded like, if he meant that in the way that the person will lose their job or cut off the money supply, Lord have mercy on him because that wasn't the smartest thing to say. He might just be discouraged that people in the congregation or community can't got to church because they have a family to feed, or maybe he just feels that strongly about it.

What would happen if doctors refused to work on Sundays??? What about poliemen? What about pastors?
I believe the point your pastor was trying to make is that some people are going to have to work on Sundays. It's just inevitable.

The focus should have been on something that would interfere with a relationship with God. But, he could have meant that God will make a way for you to be at church when you need to be. I would have to hear the whole message to understand exactly what he meant.

I'm christian, but I don't think its necessary to go to church every Sunday. Actually, if my pastor said that, I'd be looking for a new church. This pastor probably doesn't even realize that Sunday isn't the sabbath. Constantine changed it to make it easier for pagans to convert, which isn't exactly sticking to the commandment, "Honor the sabbath and keep it holy".

Sounds to me like he's saying god will make your boss give you sunday's off or get you laid off so you don't have to work on sundays. I tend to remember Jesus' words about not putting one stone ontop of another to make a home for him... It's not about attending church to worship him, it's about living the worship and following his teachings.
Even a non-christian such as me knows that.

Friend, you tell your mother that God will not cut her money, you have too many preachers that Preaches, & they don't even know what & how to handle God's word, Your pastor is trying to make your mother feel bad, ask your mother or even do it yourself, ask your pastor why is he working on Sunday, His job is a pastor, so he is working on Sunday. & if your paster eats out on Sunday ask him why is he paying all these poor souls, money to work on Sunday, They have to fix the food that he eats. That is aDouble talking pastor. Friend, In my 37 yrs. of serving God, I have seen them all.

With God all things are possible with prayer and supplication. Maybe God has you working on that day so you can witness the word of God to some one and bring them to believe. You can still read the bible , go to bible study.Or maybe he will promote you .Believe in the Lord .With him all things are possible
