Is global warming a man-made menace?

not all there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

some home truths

politicians and scientists who work for politicians have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change and change effects many people income, and most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification

in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

My opinion is that global warming is a normal trend of the Earth's cycles to which we are contributing and thus accelerating the process considerably.

Emissions in and of themselves are not the only problem, it is the generation of heat coming from billions of engines operating every day, sending trillions of heat units into the atmosphere which only further warms the globe.

At this late stage in the game, any changes would be merely temporary in nature, because unless we do something to control the rate of human growth and expansion, even if we cut emissions by 80%, in just under 20 years we will have doubled our population twice over again and be back to square one, and sadly even that is far more optimistic than the way things currently look.

I don't think the human race will become totally extinct, but I do foresee a catastrophe that, sooner or later will wipe out the largest portion of what lives on earth, and what is left will have to survive on a planet that has been ravaged and raped of most of the resources their predecessors could get their hands on.

Global warmign to me undoubtably exists, the cliamte is definalty changing; just look back 30 or 40 years; we used (in South East UK) get snow 2,3 ro even 4 times a year; so far this year, one tiny splattering; that had melted by lunch. there is less sea ice around; tempuratures are icnreasing in the depths of the oceans. big things are happening.

Yes, the earth does have warm- cold transitions, and they may ahve had a part to play in the extinction of the dinosaurs etc; but the rate the earth is warming at the momentties in very strongly with the level of CO2 in the atmposhphere (like identical); carbon dioxide figures are rising and the tempurature is follwing suit.

Global warming, is really the biggest threat to the human race at this time; terrorism kills, what; 150 a yr? nuclear weapons haven't killed anyone for 60 odd years (exc cancers etc) but famines, floods, climatic changes, salt water aquifer penetration and everythign else which is linked to or caused by global warming will and are killing millions of people a year. it is a scary (and sobering) thought.

Solving global wamring, well in my opinion we are too far gone. short of never emiting a gram of CO2 from our cars from tomorrow (which will not happen :( ) the earth is and will continue to warm; it is how much it will warm by we can now try to control.
We basically need to ensure we use less fossil fuels, invest in decent carbon neutral technology, plant forests and use less. it doesn't sound nice to everyone but we have to do it

The earth is, and always has been in a state of flux (that means it is always changing). So; with this in mind, the earth is either moving toward warmer temps (global warming) or it will be moving toward colder temps (new ice-age). Being it is; that the earth, just emerged from a mini ice age around the year 1850 it is only natural and predictable (even by politicians) that every year since then it has been getting warmer. Would alarmist be happier if we were moving toward a new ice-age???. I'm not sure but those are the only options human beings have. SOoo....take your pick........STABILITY in world climate, is not an option as long as mother nature is in charge.

Anyone who says we are too greedy or short-sighted to fix global warming needs to get off of their computer, shut off the electricity and heat to their home, and walk to work every day. Until then, get off your soap-box of hypocrisy and wait for some scientific research to provide some possible solutions (if, we as humans, were not wrong in being so arrogant as to assume we could have a catastrophic effect on global temperature patterns).

Global warming is real but is largely due to natural processes. We can do very little to solve a cosmic problem after all we are not God. But trying to minimize pollution of all kinds is where we could make improvements

My opinion is that global warming is a real phenomenon and that we, the human race, are too short-sighted and greedy to come together as a group to do what must be done.

If our extinction were more imminent, perhaps we might be motivated to dump the required amount of money into the development of non-fossil fuel forms of producing electricity and powering our vehicles.

I just don't see it happening.

Global warming is not something that can be fixed because that is not applicable to the situation. The temperature of the globe changes. It is the current trend for it to be increasing with considerable fuel for growth because of our current actions. It is that we must lessen the factors that are affecting our climate.

I think Global Warming may exist....but the dinosaurs also went through extreme climate changes....I wonder what they called that?:) The solution, be aware of what you do to the environment and just live life....like the dinosaurs!!

if the previous posts are representative of public opinion on global warming, I believe that our ability to solve global warming is hopeless.

we're told that global warming is caused by the release of greenhouse gasses,(air pollution).
whether or not you agree with the concept of global warming, i'm sure that we can all agree that pollution is bad.
i think we should all err on the side of caution and reduce, reuse, and recycle.
