i own a repair shop, and all the people i know of that bought KIA really like them,i don't think the car in general is a bad car,a lot of it is the owners ,who neglect to take good care of them, and the maintenance as we all know is the life of the car,any car for that matter, all the ones that i service seem to be doing really good ,and i have a lot of customers who really like them,so i think the majority of all the complaints are coming from people who failed to take care of them, not because there's nothing wrong with the cars in general,i like working on those, there simple and easy to repair,id probably buy a new one if i ever decide to purchase another new vehicle, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

Because warranty to me means that I am going to have to fix something at some point. So...we need to warranty it for 100k. You build up trust like Toyota....they don't need a 100k warranty because people know they won't break. That happens over time. The Korean market is really new to the US and really hasn't had a very good run to start with (remember Daewoo), car lots sold tons of them...just to have them go bankrupt, then right after people paid 30k for a high end car....they got to trade them back in when no one would fix it and get 2500. Doesn't mean that Kia is the same thing...but sure doesn't show well for Korea.

I used to sell used cars aswell and I liked the KIA but it was just not a top seller at all because the people who bought them new, never took care of them. So eventhough it was a good car, it became junk with the owner's lack of maintenance. Thus the reputation went downhill, company went bankrupt, started selling junk instead of quality.

I don't think it is a car that is more prone to break down than anything else. But, the cars are so bland, can't handle to save your life, so unstable it's dangerous, and after a couple of years, rattles, creeks, squeaks are everywhere. It's a throw away car.
I would only buy one if i desperately needed reliable transportation and couldn't afford a nice car.

Because they are junk. Who wants to keep getting their car fixed, even if it is free?

Because people are so shallow they don't want to be seen driving cheap cars.
