I was wondering if it was easy to potty train them to go outside. Also, do you know any good training tips on how to effectively potty train them? And are they good with children? Because I have 5 brothers and sisters.

poodles are very inteligent dogs and don't shed. they are great with kids.

as for potty training teach her the phrase "outside potty" and get her to go outside after eating. i would not get a new puppy if you dont have enough time. also i think a female would be easyer to train because males always have to mark their territory.

also a purebreed dog is going to be expensive be shure to do lots of research on the breed before buying one. you might also want to consider training classes if you have never had a dog before, books can also be a great alternative. dogfancy is the best do mag that you can get, try to find an issue on poodles to learn about health conditions, personalitys, and orgin of the dog to insure that you get the very best.

a good training tecnic for walking on a leash is to first get them used to their collar, keep it on as much as they can stand it, then get them to walk is the tricky part. try tempting with food, or walking with another dog (when i was raiseing my puppy he just sat in one place and wouldnt move) once you can get them to move try to walk in a straight line once distracted whistle at them or snap your fingers while slightly pulling on the leash to train them to walk and not pay attention to anything else.

poodles are very inteligent dogs and are great companions, they dont have to be groomed all the time either, just use doggie clippers to shave their fur to be about one inch thick. have fun with your new puppy and i hope i helped =]

Like any breed if you make sure you buy from a reputable breeder then you will have more chance of getting a happy healthy pup. Training in poodles is relatively easy as long as you are consistent and with the number of people in your house that may pose a problem because the pup will only get confused if everyone tries to train it using different methods. Do not under any circumstances rub your puppies nose into any mess it may have created, that is unbelievably cruel and potential health hazard. As to whether they are barkers again that is down to where you get the puppy from and how you tain it. If you give a barking dog a lot of attention then it will continue to bark. Make sure you book into puppy classes and that should help you train your dog to be a happy member of your family.

A Miniature poodle is a better pet. There is a great difference in temperment between the toy version, versus the Standard and Miniature.

Toys (teacup size)have a tendency to be nippers and yap alot..they also can be quite skittish.

The miniature (which stands as big as a small cocker spaniel) and the Standard (as big as a german shepherd) both have trainable and good natured temperments. They are easily trained and rank after the border collie for canine intelligence. They make a great pet.

Toy poodles are an exceptional breed. They are very sociable, but also have a very difficult time with separation anxiety (as all poodles do). Depending on the age of your siblings, I would do a little research, the toy breeds are very fragile and perhaps a miniature poodle would be better suited to a young and busy family.

You also will have to factor in professional grooming costs (unless someone in your family is patient enough to learn how to groom - it's not easy). I pay $50 every 6 weeks to have my dog bathed, hair cut, nails trimmed, and anal glands expressed.

Also depending on where you live, a toy poodle may need special care during seasons with extreme temperatures. Even with temps above freezing he or she will need a little coat.

Never, EVER push your dog's nose into its pee!!! Poodles are very smart and soft-hearted - what you need to do is 'set him up for success', it is you who is trained in the beginning, not him. Every hour (and after every meal) he will need to be taken out doors where you want him to learn to eliminate. This is not a playtime. When he does pee or poop outdoors, tell him (gently) 'good boy, (I use 'hurry up'). After he really catches on, and for the rest of his life, he will eliminate on command - each time he hears the words 'hurry up'.

Stay in the small minature range 7-12 lbs. It would be les likely to get anything broke or get sick. Small toys are more likely to have health problems. Poodles are smart so house training will be as easy as any other breed.

I think toy poodles are really good pets. I heard that they are good with children. But for all of that just ask the people at the shelter or pet shop. Good Luck!

It's a beautiful breed, and very active. However, it does like to get pampered, so it may take a while to potty train it. I recommend buying one, because it's fun to see dogs who have ixed feelings react to different things their masters do.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?455A

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

it is not a questoin of how good the dog is with your brothers and sisters . it is a question of how good your brothers and sisters are. i find most kids deserve to be bitten. with 5 brothers and sisters I think your mom has enough mouths to feed. And vet bills are not covered by insurance. And I really hate people that don't take there pet to the vet because they can't afford it.
