When I am active, my back does not seem to hurt as much. If I take alieve before my day begins, I am fine, but if taken during the time I feel pain, it does not. When I become inactive and just lay around, my back gets more stif and sore. Whats going on here?

Thank You for the 1st answer. I am in my 40's and a bit out of shape. So I will make it a point to get back into shape. I was not always like this. My work is very physical and was just wondering.

When you are up and being active, your are using your core muscles which support the back. When you are lying around those muscles are not supporting the back, especially when your are slumping over in a chair or on the couch. Many people have this issue.

The key is to build strong core muscles and use good posture (stand up straight, shoulders back, and abdomen muscles in) to keep your spine supported well. If your abdomen is large then work to reduce it, because this causes undue strain on the back muscles also.

You didn't tell your age, but taking aleve everyday is not a good thing. Your body gets accustomed to that medicine and when you don't take it, you will have rebound pain...which makes the pain seem worse. I would suggest weaning yourself off of this medicine. Take it only when absolutely necessary.

Work on the ab muscles...this will help the most.
