How difficult would it be to find work in Halifax? Specifically in information technology software testing? We are from Los Angeles and we are thinking of moving to Halifax. My husband is a software tester and was not sure what the job market would be like in Halifax? Another community we have heard about, but know nothing about is Bedord Nova Scotia. Who is the major IT employer in Halifax? Also what are the tax repecussions? We have our son's college fund ins US dollars.

If you want a chance with a good IT based company in Halifax, RIM, Research In Motion, the maker of the "Blackberry" has opened a call center and has there East Coast tech and operations department in the Halifax area, to see the opportunitys , go to there website, and under country Choose "Americas", and type in the city HALIFAX, I generally chose to view 25 jobs at one time.

They have a number there and do some testing but there base operations and Tech Support offices are there. I have tried for years to get into there Waterloo operations, I ama MCSE and A+ tech, but 50 yrs old and not in there niche market for some reason, maybe I should relocate to Halifax, I was there as a chef in 1985.

What you might do is, knowing about how the chances are in your own area, is to check both the main newspaper in your area and compare it to the Halifax main newspaper, by looking through both the paper's classifieds help wanted section, that should glean you a general idea for comparison purposes.

Of course it's not perfect, there's no way to foretell the actual supply vs. demand part of the equation, but as a guide it should help.

As for how to get an out of town paper, perhaps you can call them and ask them how you would go about having them send you one?
