I am 18 and my boyfriend is 19. We have been together for 2 years now. This is my senior prom and I want to spend the whole night with him. My mom is the problem. She says that I cant spend the night with him because I'll "get pregnant" and that she had a curfew prom night. Blahblahblah. How do I sway her to let me stay with him???

"mom you had a curfew, and i bet you didnt like that, so why should i have one. Its my last year at the school, and mom im a responsible adult, i mean im 18...and why do you definitly think my boyfriend and i will have sex? theres more to that in a relationship. we'll probably go to a movie and dinner

I don't think your mom is giving you good advice. First off, she sounds sexist, which for me, usually discredits someone's opinion about an issue. It's not every young man's intention to have sex after Prom. But you know your boyfriend better than your mom does, so you should make the decision if you feel comfortable with him. After all, it is your body, and your relationship(with him). But your mom saying that you are going to "get pregnant" is ridiculous, bias, and sexist. That is just as bad as saying you can't go to a friend's house because they're black and you'll get "robbed"... ridiculous. Anyways, keep your mind open, and make sure you are ready for whatever you do!

technically, since ur 18, she can't tell u what to do... however, since u live in her house, u should respect her wishes.. but u know what i did for my senior prom? i asked my mom if my man could sleep over... then, we were able to stay up all night together.. she wouldn't let us fall asleep together in the same room, but believe me, mom went to bed at some point and we "watched a movie and talked" before we decided to go to bed, if you know what i mean... it made mom feel more like she was in control...

are you responsible in everyday life? do you come home after your curfew? if so, she could be judging you on these things. she'd probably let you go if you're very responsible. be calm and firm when you try to convince her to let you stay out. no "but mom, it's not fair!" then she'll respect you even less. tell her you'll be with chaperones, and if you won't be, swear on your head you won't do anything. remember she's just trying to keep you safe. don't hate her for it.

Just tell her that its going to be a group of you that are goin gto stay up all night by a hudge camp fire singing with the guitar and drinkking red bull to tay up all night till the sun comes up, and it just so happens that your man iscoming with you and everyone else is doing it and for her to trust you.

You have to convince her that you'll listen patiently to all her advice and opinions, and then with the utmost responsibility ... do whatever the hell you want and she can't stop it anyway.

tell her that this is a once in life time chance. unless you plan on failing school.anyway reassure her that youre not gonna have sex. if thats want you wanna do fine. but tell her you dont. put the pressure on her and off you . ask her if she really thinks that of you. does she think that youre a whore. or something like that. hope this helps.

tell her that u won't have sex u will just be out to dinner or watching a late night movie and i f u r wanting to have sex then i think u should respect ur mom's decision
